The Markor editor application is without doubts the best text editor in the market. Gone are the days where text files were written and edited using a computer system based software. Now with your mobile phone and the right software, you can accomplish more. I remember using Omni notes about two months ago I felt I had found the application I need for my text editing until I discovered the Markor editor application.

What is Markor?

The Markor is a decentralized application designed by Gregor Santner. Its aim is to provide users with an editor that supports Plain text files, Zim wiki files, Jekyll post, and Markdown files. Markor editor application is versatile when handling text files, I have used it for four months, and I have introduced it to my friends. The developers of the Markor editor application have provided its source code in its GitHub account in case you're willing to contribute.

One of the things I like about the Markor editor application is its ability to support bookmarks. I read through a lot of websites on a daily basis, and most times if I'm interested in a particular story, I bookmark its link on the Markor editor application. Apart from bookmarking, the Markor editor application is compatible with other text editing software on other platforms, it supports images inserting, created files can be converted to PDF and HTML, and it is completely offline.

Introducing Makor version 1.7.2:

A few days ago, the Markor editor application had a new version, version 1.7.2. Immediately after I got the notification for the Markor editor application, I proceeded to download it newly released version. Like me, I get notified each time there's an updated version for my mobile applications. A lot of improvement has been seen on the newly released version of the Markor editor application. It goes without saying that the developers are professionals.

What's new on the Markor editor application version 1.7.2:

The Markor editor application comes with its own fonts that are open license and free. I love fonts a lot, and I'm glad there are a lot of them. Accessing the font feature is down by clicking on

  • Settings,
  • Editor,
  • Document editor font.

When I first saw the font feature, I thought I would have to download the fonts myself before implementing them. I was pleased when I found out the Markor editor application came with preloaded fonts. If you wish to download fonts from other sources, you're free to do so.

App Shortcuts:

The App shortcuts is a feature that I like so much, and I have the developers to thank for that. Google released the latest app shortcut feature not too long ago, and already it has been implemented on the Markor editor application. The Markor editor application can now be accessed quickly by long pressing of its desktop icon thanks to the App shortcuts feature. I have used the App shortcuts feature a couple of times now on my mum's mobile phone, too bad the App shortcuts feature is not compatible with my mobile device. I'm using Android version 6.1 while the App shortcuts feature requires Android version 7.1 upwards. It is a major setback for me and those using the older version of Android.

The App shortcuts feature is truly overwhelming. I get to access my files without launching the Markor editor application.

WikiLink syntax

Before the release of the Markor editor application version 1.7.2, I never knew what WikiLink syntax was, but thanks to the developers of the Markor editor application, I have been enlightened.

The WikiLink syntax is used in making references to a document that was saved already. They are two different ways in which saved documents can be loaded. The WikiLink syntax meant for loading documents from a markdown format documents is different from the ones used in loading documents from a Jekyll document. The syntax text is meant for loading documents from a markdown format document while [[text]] is meant for loading documents from Jekyll document.

At first, when I tried the WikiLink syntax feature, I was a bit confused about what it does and how it can be implemented. Right now, I am able to load documents from a markdown format document, but I'm still learning how to load documents from Jekyll document.

Convert shared links to markdown formats:

The linkbox has really improved in Markor version 1.7.2. The linkbox is used in saving links for reference purposes. I remember when the linkbox could not detect webpage titles or have a quick button for easy access. Now with the newly implemented button which is among the menu options, users can quickly access the linkbox. Also, it can detect webpage titles before saving them.

I have a lot of links stored in my linkbox. The linkbox feature has been a blessing to me. I like the fact that the newly implemented linkbox feature is capable of converting shared links to markdown formats automatically.

Conclusion:

The Markor editor application version 1.7.2 is a great plus to both the platform and it's users. It comes with extensive features not seen on other platforms. Using it will grant you a lot of possibilities when working with documents.
