Merzouka best time
South-east of the Kingdom of Morocco, the city of Marzouka, known as tourists, "Sea of sand", which is 130 kilometers from the city of Rashidiya.
The city has large sandy areas for visitors to treat rheumatism.
The city can be reached by land or by air. The road runs from Rashidiya, a transit point for any traveler to the area. Due to its location and attractiveness, a direct line between Casablanca and Marzouka was operated by the public transport bus during the summer. The air route runs through the air line that began early last summer between Casablanca and Rashidiya. When the traveler arrives at Moulay Ali Al Sharif airport, he needs to take a taxi to reach the Marzouka area.
Between Rashidiya and Marzouka, he captures your eyes, the empty place, and his silence, broken by the waves of sand. When you reach the city, which is about 20 km from the Algerian border, its climate and sand-blended sandbags force you to put a grouper on your face, so that the sand storms that surprise you will not bother you from time to time.
When asked about the history of the city and its inhabitants, it is discovered that the area was once uninhabited and formed a transit point for traders going to or from Timbuktu in Mali. The city, according to Mr. Noureddine Kifah, a resident of the area, was a pilgrimage place belonging to the tribes of "Ata" Amazigh. Noordin adds that a large part of them chose stability in the region after discovering their charm and beauty. Currently they are owners of most of the hotels and accommodation centers in the city. Some have chosen to invest in agriculture, especially bulls.
In the summer, Marzouka, home to nearly 3,000 people, forms a shrine frequented by a large number of tourists. While mentioning the name of the bathroom with water, Marzouka lets you shower in the sand, if you suffer from a disease in the joints.
Mr. Mahjoub Hida, one of the supervisors of the sand showers, tells us the details. The person who wishes to take a bath in the sand, with the exception of his head covered by a large, circular hat, is known as "Taraza" and is similar to Mexican hats to avoid a blow to the sun. The landfill, or so-called "bridging", lasts between 10 and 15 minutes. During this period, one of the supervisors accompanying the person benefiting from the bathing process offers a few doses of water so as not to become dehydrated by the sand absorption process.
