Bitcoin is down 5% today, which comes after a few days of strong performance for the token. Many have been speculating that the mini-pump we have seen recently was caused, at least in part, by both sides in the Ukranian war adopting crypto to help fund their efforts. It will have also helped to alleviate pressure on the Russian rouble after a wave of unprecedented global economic sanctions were imposed on Russia.

However, the drop in price we're currently witnessing might have something to do with the announcement of new crypto sanctions that the US Office of Foreign Assets Control have announced. But we saw recently with the truckers protest in Canada, where millions of dollars were raised for their cause via crypto donations, an attempt by the Canadian government to block the crypto wallets which failed. Controlling crypto is not an easy thing as both Canada and China have discovered!
