Sensory Box
Stimulating the senses in children is important when it comes to learning, so the sensory box is ideal for learning fun.
There are many benefits that this tool provides to stimulate children's learning regardless of age. It is created to stimulate sensory development, concentration and is ideal to experience new textures, shapes and sizes.
Some guidelines that we must take into account when creating a sensory box is to identify what we want to teach the child, so that when integrating the materials is focused to achieve the goal, not overload and tend to be very dispersed. It should also take into account the age of the child although it is a tool for any is important since it depends on it the amount of objects to integrate.
Steps to create a sensory box
Container or shoe box
Sand, (It can also integrate rice or lentils)
Numbers of different sizes and shapes
plastic shovel (optional)
Do not forget that the objects involved must be very well chosen to avoid accidents, since the goal is for the child to explore, touch with his hands everything that is there without forgetting the possibility that he puts it to his mouth
The curiosity to explore what is inside the box will awaken in your child the desire to learn, will be very attentive to what is touching and discovering, it is time to explain what each found object means and will not stop looking. You can touch, search and explore everything that is in it, which will give you a sense of prominence and be actively involved in this new experience
The learning is significant when the child is included in the activity, this tool achieves that the child is the main member and gives them the opportunity to manipulate the different objects in a rejalada way, at the same time stimulating their self-esteem by having the sensation of control
To take advantage of the benefits of this tool, I adapt it to the needs of my 5-year-old son. I want him to identify the numbers from 1 to 5, so he integrates a number of different shapes and sizes.
The first game was to take them out and show and identify what number they had found
The second game was to show a number of images and remove the amount corresponding to the images seen.
