Friends Polio is a highly infectious disease that mostly affects children under the age of five and adults over the age of 20. The World Health Organization reports that the disease is still present worldwide with wild-type polio and vaccine-type polio affecting 198 countries and territories.

Polio is so deadly because it attacks the central nervous system, which controls muscles, vital organs, and the brain. Once the body is paralyzed, deep muscle contraction, lack of oxygen, and brain damage occur . It's spread by droplets of saliva or nasal secretions and can remain contagious in the environment for up to three months.. The only way to prevent this from happening is through vaccination. The goal of this article is to educate readers about polio and what they can do to be vaccinated.
