Greetings friends, hope you are all doing good? It's good to make an entry on this interesting topic.

Rainy season runs from April through September. Dry season runs from December through March.In the month of October through November is transition from rainy to dry, where rain is very minimal with sunshine coming up more. Rainy season begins in April, peaks around June , July and begins to reduce in September. This season is marked by abundant heavy rainfalls, sunshine, green vegetations and cool weather. Nigerians don't suffer heat this season.

Dry Season

Dry Season is marked with extreme sunshine with little or no rain at all. The sun is scorching and burning. People in North suffer greatly from this burning heat. Harmattan occurs in this season around late November through January. It is known with extreme cold dry wind, dust , and haze occurs in the early morning. Northerners experience this Harmattan season more and longer through March, compared to other regions. This period, there is extreme çoldness in the day and at night. When you spread out clotthes in less than an hour they dry out, unlike the regular 3-4 hours with sunshine. Everywhere is dusty and dry. People suffer cold, cattarh, and other illnesses this season.

Of these two seasons, the rainy season is my favorite. I prefer the rainy season because of its cool weather. There is no heat rash , everywhere is cool. Plants is green, and there is abundant harvest of crops. There are plenty of fruits to enjoy this season and fresh vegetables to eat from.

If there was one season you wanted to skip forever, which one would it be? Explain the reason

The one season if I wanted to skip forever is the harmattan that occurs during the dry season. Harmattan comes with so much cold, dust and dryness. It causes people to fall sick. But some others says it is only pushing hidden illnesses so people can treat it before it gets worse.

Describe a traditional or special activity that people in your country do during a particular season

It's not like a tradition or something, but it's a common practice to see people cultivating little garden in their homes at the approach of rainy season. This practice is seen every year, most people continue to do this throughout the year. They plant different fruits like mango,orange, banana, and food crops, like corn, pumpkin, jute, okra, bitter leaf, scent leaf, lemon grass.

Are there any special foods or drinks that people in your country enjoy most during certain seasons? If so, what is it and why?

Yes, during harmattan seasons, people take hot foods and drinks to stay warm. It's not uncommon to see people take hot teas and beverages this season. Also, people bathe with hot water everyday. This will help to conserve body heat.

In conclusion, Nigeria is a tropical country with two major seasons, dry and rainy season, with the rainy season spanning through most months of the year. Every season comes with it's benefits and demerits. However, I would say the rainy season is more beneficial. Supporting agricultural growth for farmers, giving cool rash-free weather to the body and abundance of fruits and vegetables for household.

Thank you all. Hope you learnt something about my country's seasons. I invite @eliany @mesola @adachukwu to make their entries too.

@afunkycares
Interesting It was good to read your post and you expressed your favorite that your country also has two seasons, dry season and rainy season. The heat is so intense that it becomes difficult to leave the houses and the business activities are affected to a great extent. There is a time for each season to come and its duration. How long does a season stay there, but as soon as the dry season ends, the rainy season starts. There is a distinct joy on people's faces at the start and as you said you also like the rainy season because the weather is very cool and calm specially found in it. Wale fruit and other hot things we use are our favorite thank you thank you so much best of luck.
@mona01

Yes, I would say rainy season is most preferred, especially for the coolness. Thank you friend for commenting.

Rainy season is always the best. One of my favourite season in Nigeria. There is actually so much that can be said about that season. I was expecting you to actually include the Harmattan season as one of the season actually but I was shocked to discover this. Well we still have two major season in Nigeria just like you said which I actually admire so much. The rainy and the dry season. One of my favourite season is the rainy season not only because of me alone but the fact that rainy season tend to create this balance more efficiently and this is awesome to actually see. During rainy season, farmers tend to benefit from it much more and that is the reason why I love the rainy season. Not only that alone but also the weather condition is always top notch for us because it is actually cool compared to the dry season where all of the weather condition is quite so hot and hot. Thank you for sharing this post as it was quite informative and I was really able to learn a whole lot from it actually.

I mentioned about the harmattan in the post. Basically in Nigeria, we have two seasons: dry and rainy. The harmattan season is a period in the dry season where the weather is extremely dry, dusty and cold, characterized with haze early in the morning. Rainy season always remain the preferred season. I appreciate those comments of yours
