How to Make Herbal Teas and Infusions
Basic Herbal Tea
It is very easy and simple to make herbal teas. Add some quantity such as 1 to 2 spoons of the dry herb. In some herbal teas you can use a handful of fresh herbs per cup of water. Then simply boil the water and while boiling the water pour it on the herbs. After this cover it for 5 to 10 minutes. Your herbal tea is ready just strain and enjoy your herbal tea at home. You can add sugar or honey according to your desire to make the taste sweet.
Here I am making a herbal tea for the cure of the cough and common cold. I am using Jujube, Fennel, Licorice root to prepare this powerful herbal tea. It is an expectorant herbal. It also release mucus from the lungs.
The herbal tea is ready to use. In this way you can create your herbal tea with the herbs.
Herbal Infusion
Infusions are also easy to prepare. Use just 1/4 cup of the dry herb per quart of water for the good infusion. Now keep it for the several hours or for the overnight. Then you can strain the infusion and drink it. These are ideal for the deeply nourishing herbs such as nettle and oatstraw. It provides a high concentration of the minerals and vitamins.
Keep in mind in order to keep the infusion healthy keep the leftover infusion in the fridge. You should use infusion of the herbs within the 48 hours for the best flavour and potency.
Proper Storage of Herbs
It is necessary to keep the herbs at the safe places for the long life and lasting effects of the herbs. Here are some ways of the proper storage of the herbs. Commonly we have two types of herbs one is fresh herb and the second is dry herb.
Fresh Herb
Fresh herbs are very sensitive and they should be taken care greatly. Place the fresh herbs in the refrigerator. Use a paper towel or a breathable container to place the fresh herbs in the refrigerator.
Moreover we can place the fresh herbs such as basil and cilantro in a glass of water. It will also keep them fresh and the moisture will help them to prevent wilting.
Dried Herbs
We should store dry herbs away from the heat and direct light. We should also store dry herbs away from the moisture. It will save their effectiveness. You can place the glass jars of the dry herbs in a cool place. Moreover always keep it in mind to label each herb with a unique name and the date. Because some dry herbs can only retain their effectiveness for up to one year if they are stored properly.
So in order to support the health naturally we can use these remedies. I will recommend you to always consult your healthcare provider before using herbs.
