Suggestions For OIFileManager android Part-1
OI File Manager:
OI filemanager is one of the best open source file manager available for android
it is very light and has a very simple and user interface which is very easy to get used to.
OIFile managers source code is available on github.
and the app is available on both Playstore and F-droid.
here i bring you a few suggestions to improve OIFileManager.
1.Junk File Cleaner:
Each and every application has cache and temp files.
which are just junk and takes unnecessary space in your storage.
now you obviously cannot go and delete each and every single junk file on your own,
so they should have a cleaner which scans internal storage and cleans junk files within the file manager.
for example:
As you can see it scans all the unnecessary files and asks your permission to delete it
which is really helpful and easy enough to get our storage enough for other files we wanna store
by getting rid of junk files.
there are many things that downloaded data which we don't need anymore and apk files which we don't have any use for anymore and app junk ad junk etc,
occupying unnecessary storage where we can store other files.
so i would suggest that they include a cleaner in the app which could be really useful.
i would really like to see this feature in future.
2.Password Protection:
Privacy has become a big deal nowadays
people have lots of things which they don't want others to see they like to keep their privacy.
same goes with file managers we all have some files in some folders which we do not want anyone else to see or we just don't like other people meddling with our files like small children they don't know anything if they access the file manager they might delete something important bymistake
so there should be a password protection for the file manager something like this:
As you can see a bunch of lock option would be useful.
app protection which will help in locking the app so that only the user has access to it and the file safety is guaranteed.
Also a hide list password we all hide a few things in file manager but in most of them they are very easy to gain access to by just clicking show hidden files which privacy is not guaranteed
so for that i would really like it to have a option like in the above picture "Hide list Protection".
which according to me is really helpful so that if anyone tries to check your hidden files a password is asked in that way no one can even see your hidden files.
and i would really like it if the password has a fingerprint support because 99% of the smartphones come with a fingerprint scanner so i would really like to see this feature in future.
3.Logger:
we download, share,or copy a lot of files from others phones or computer or internet
of which we don't have a track off.
A logger is something which keeps a track of your files when they are added and what time they are added i find this thing actually very useful so that if i find some unnecessary pictures or audio files, screenshots etc i can delete them right away and you will have a track of the files you added.
As you can see it can give you the log of all types and all apps.
all types includes files zip files folders photos audio files etc.
so as you can see it even show what was added for example if a picture was taken it will show a preview of that picture,if its a song it'll show you the mp3 file and the songs name and size detail of it etc,it also shows when was the file added as you can see in above picture it shows the time when an audio file was added since it was not necessary i could delete it from the log and the file will be gone. so i thing its a very handy feature which would be very useful for a file manager for android.
i would really like to see these features in future updates,
hopefully i will try to come up with some more useful features for this app if i can.
Thank you!
