Dilemma In Picking Up A Good Scanner!
Recently I have been doing some research on ways of transforming traditional artworks into digital artworks and the one thing that I have been really interested in is scanning. I have been reading and researching more about the most affordable and effective scanner for artists and to be honest it has been quite confusing.

But the 2 brands that I have seen repeatedly are Epson & Canon. I had one from Canon a few years ago but it was during my schooling years which was used for basic purposes like scanning documents, books, etc. As most of you know I love dedicating my time to watercolors and seeing them in digital format is really exciting for me. And the possibilities of enhancing/experimenting on them further definitely seems worthy of some attention.
As of today, the one that seems right for me is the Epson Perfection V39 scanner. I like the fact that noobs like me can give it a shot without investing too much at once as it costs $74.99. Even though it measures 14.4 x 9.9 x 1.5 inches, the lid is removable which allows bigger pieces to be scanned. It is compatible with Mac Os with a 4800 dpi optical resolution which I think should be okay for a good quality scan. I like how it can be vertically placed and uses a USB cable for power making it a little hassle free.
But these are my first thoughts on this particular model when I thought of the convenience with my work. I know very little about the technicalities of what a good scanner should possess or maybe the minimum requirements it should meet. The criteria that I am looking to be fulfilled is scanning artworks, specially watercolor paintings and ink illustrations (big and small). If you guys have any experience with scanners and have some wisdom to pass, I would love to hear it out. Cheers!
