Puerto Vallarta from the Observation Deck: Mirador Cerro de La CruzsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #photography6 years ago

Hi Everyone. Today I want to take you up to Mirador Cerro de La Cruz. You can access the path there, just south of 5 de Deciembre via Calle Abasolo (direct route) or via Calle Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez and then crossing over to Calle Abasolo. I personally prefer Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez because it has nicer steps.

This street starts at the Malecon. It goes almost all the way up.

Here is the view looking down the street towards the ocean.

This is the view looking up the street. In the center of the photo, on top of the hill is the observation deck. (It kind of looks like a giant parkade from far away.)

I just had to share a photograph of these beautiful tiles steps. :)

The street ends, but the path and steps continue.

Here the path zigzags amongst plants and flowers. It's very pretty.

A view of those same steps looking down.

Once more there is a road. Further to go yet.

And, further still. :)

The road ends once more. A friendly dog was sunbathing on the steps.

Somehow I missed the path on the right to go over to Calle Abasalo (it's paved). I reached the end of the path and steps and was greeted by a locked gate. However, a local directed me to take the path beside the fence to the right. So, I did and luckily it led directly to Abasalo.

There are two sets of stairs leading up with a Tram in the middle, which was unfortunately not running.

The view of the same stairwell from the top, looking down.

Finally, I reached the top. For some unknown reason, I did not think to photograph the actual Observation Deck itself. If you're interested in seeing those pictures: Click here
It was so nice and cool up there. A lovely breeze. There were a few other people up there, including a band that was shooting a music video (I didn't take any photographs because I wasn't sure if it would be OK, or if it would be rude). I bet this would be a fantastic place to see the sunset from! The sunsets here are incredible!

Looking South-West towards Emiliano Zapata and the Pacific Ocean.

Looking South-East towards El Caloso, Las Penas, El Remance, and Buenas Aires. If you look closely, you can also see the Tunel Bus Route.
IMG_8861.JPG
To the North-West we have 5 de Deciembre, Lázaro Cárdenas, Las Glorias (Zona Hotelera), Marina Vallarta, and way in the distance you can see Neuvo Vallarta.
IMG_8864.JPG
Looking directly West, we can see Restaurant & Bar El Panorama (the white highrise). This building is also home to La Siesta Hotel & Suites. The street on the right of El Panorama is Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez and the one running parallel on the left is Abasolo.
IMG_8865.JPG
Looking a bit more South-West we see of the Malecon and on the left-hand side, we can see the Museo Naval Secretaria de Marina and Los Arcos. This is where a lot of entertainment happens on the weekend, especially during the tourist season(winter). The Naval Museum is a fantastic place to go on a hot day. Their air conditioning is absolutely amazing. If you are local, you might want to bring a sweater.

More towards the West, we can see Alta Vista. The three little Islands you can see in the far distance are part of: Parque Nacional Marino Los Arcos.

I hope you enjoyed this walk and the views.
Have a terrific day!

I love the beautiful tile steps, and the stone work making up the roads. It adds a personal touch of beauty to the area.

I wish stonework like this was still as popular today as it was years ago. Maybe it is in some places, but not here. I should go out and take photo's of some of the cool stonework that is remaining in the area. Some of it exists in areas of dilapidation with drugs and gangs, so venturing would be risky business, but I know of a couple somewhat safe places where artistic masonry can be found.

I love the distance shot of El Caloso, Las Penas, El Remance, and Buenas Aires, with all those beautiful mountains. I can't help but to wonder why cities are built so dense when there is so much land, but then again, it's better on mother nature to keep it's natural state this way. Those mountains look so inviting.

Did you get to pet that friendly looking dog? He was looking very happy to see the beautiful presence of Akiroq <3

I find in general the majority of people here try to make things nicer for everyone. I see people putting out plants, sweeping the sidewalk, picking up trash. I also put out plants and hung planters from the bars in front of my window. I think it makes it look more lived-in and cozy.
Yeah, I love all the cobblestone roads around here, and the old buildings. It reminds me of my home city (which had the same things).
I think it's a great idea to take photographs of the stonework in your area. But be careful please.
I think people live clustered like that for the amenities. I myself, prefer to live a little away from everyone else. I also find the mountains so inviting!
No, I didn't pet the dog. I thought about it, but decided to just leave it in peace.
Haha, I think the dog was just happy I didn't make her/him move. Seemed to be enjoying laying there.
Besides, Orion would be so very jealous.
