Longhorn Beetle Enjoying The Holidays 😁

in Beauty of Creativity3 years ago

When I found it, this beetle almost missed my sight. It wore a perfect camouflage 'cloak', just like the color of wood or dry fallen leaves. I only realized it was a beetle when it wiggled its antennae. Yes, it is one of the longhorn beetle species.

There are several types of long-horned beetles with brilliant and striking colors. Of course, you will immediately know that it is a beetle. But this beetle is brown and streaked with pale black, like charcoal. It may not be an attractive color, but if you look at its face and its two long antennae, you'll quickly imagine what an alien or monster looks like in Hollywood movies.

Oplosia cinerea, the scientific name published by an entomologist (Mulsant, 1839) for it, is a species of longhorn beetle belonging to the family Cerambycidae.
