We all know that monsoon season brings with it torrential rain and howling winds. The humidity is high and sunshine doesn’t last long. Immediate Response Tips

Rainy season is hectic. There’s no doubt about that. But if you’re ready for it, you can be prepared to handle it and come out of it successful. First, be prepared for sudden downpours. Sometimes, they’re so sudden that you won’t even have time to seek shelter. So always keep an umbrella and a raincoat in your bag. They don’t take up much space, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t keep them with you all the time. If you’re caught in a heavy downpour, it’s best to avoid open areas and go indoors. If that’s not possible, find cover and stay there until the rain subsides.

Plan Your Outings with Advance Notice

If you have a meeting or an appointment or a business trip planned during the rainy season, you can plan for it. If it’s an important meeting that you can’t afford to miss, you can always reschedule it. But that takes time, so if you know there’s a chance of rain when you have a meeting, then plan ahead. If your appointment is in the evening, then you can always plan to go there during the day. Or if it’s a one-day event, then go there before the rain begins.

Pack the Right Equipment

This is true for any season, but is even more important during the monsoon. Keep essential items in your car at all times, so that you’re always prepared. Keep a first-aid kit, a torch in case of power failure, a spare fuse, a water bottle, a rain poncho, a dust mask, a pair of gloves, a can of windshield washer fluid and a pair of goggles. If you’re going for a long drive, it’s better to keep a can of fuel-efficient fuel in your car. If you have to travel to a remote location where there are no fuel pumps, you’ll be thankful that you had the foresight to keep this can in your car.

Don’t Be Scared of Umbrellas

You might have been told that you should never be seen in public carrying an umbrella. But that’s because the people who told you that are from the old generation who lived in a different time. If you’re a millennial or a Gen-Z or even a Gen-Y, don’t worry about being seen with an umbrella. You can carry an umbrella in your hand or in your bag. You can even keep an umbrella in your car. If you’re a man, you can always buy an unisex umbrella that looks stylish. There are even designer umbrellas available. If you’re a woman, you can buy a lovely floral-printed umbrella that will make you stand out.

Utilize Riding Showers to Stay Dry

If you’re out with your friends during a pouring downpour, there’s no harm in riding the storm out. It’s always better to stay dry than to be stuck with wet clothes and a wet wallet. Wear a water-resisting jacket and pants, and keep your feet and hands dry in riding showers. If you don’t have riding showers, you can always keep a pair of rubberized shoes with you in your bag. If you’re meeting your friends for dinner or for drinks, keep a dry-bag in your car. You can keep your phone, wallet and other important things in the dry-bag. If you’re going to be out late in the rain, keep a change of clothes in the bag as well.

Use Tinted Windows and UV Coating Films

If your office or your workplace doesn’t have a roof, you’re pretty much out of luck during the rainy season. You’ll have to either stick to working from home or you’ll have to find a way to stay dry. You can do this by using tinted windows and UV coating films. These films are perfect for your office because they not only keep the water out, but they also provide you with privacy. So you don’t have to worry about people looking in on you and your colleagues while you work. And they come in a variety of colors and textures, so you can choose the right one for your office.

Keep a Spray Bottle with You at All Times

If you’re caught in heavy downpour and don’t have a riding shower with you, you can use a spray bottle to keep your feet and hands dry. You can keep a spray bottle in your car or in your bag. It doesn’t take up much space. You can also use it to declare that you’re an allergy patient who needs to be kept away from flowers and other plants during the monsoon.

Bring an Adult-Sized Snack With You Everywhere You Go
During the rainy season, you’ll often find yourself stuck in long traffic jams. It’s not unusual for traffic jams to stretch for miles, especially during monsoon season. So keep a stash of adult-sized snacks in your bag. And you can use the time to catch up with your friends or family on the phone. Keep a water bottle in your bag as well.

Ditch the Shoes and Go Barefoot

If you’re caught in heavy downpour and you don’t have a riding shower with you, you can ditch your shoes and go barefoot. This will keep your feet dry and you can walk home barefoot and still keep your shoes safe. This works especially well if you’re walking to your workplace, since you can keep your shoes in a plastic bag and carry them with you till you reach your workplace.

Bottom line

The rainy season is beautiful, but it can also be terribly inconvenient. You can, however, survive the rainy season and come out of it with your sanity intact. First and foremost, keep a positive attitude. The rain isn’t out to get you; it’s just water. You can't stop it from falling from the sky, but you can keep it from entering your life. Now that you know how to deal with the rainy season, don’t let yourself be bogged down by it. Instead, enjoy it for what it is, because it’s the monsoon that gives us those hazy, dreamy skies that we’re all so fond of.
