Crater Lake

To some, that amount of time spent in a car is excruciating.

To me, it’s just another Saturday on the road.

I have never been to this location prior to this trip and I definitely had HIGH expectations.

Is the lake everything you’d expect?

Yeah, a bunch of internet hype.

It’s gorgeous, don’t get me wrong.

But I was expecting it to sing or some shit from how people talked about it.

Do you recommend visiting?

Absolutely!

(Just don’t make it your trip of the year.)

And a road shot...

Thatcher walking up a hill.

We arrived mid-day, but hung around until sunset.

Apparently, there is only 1 hike down to the water.

We didn't do it...

Have you?

When we go back we want to find it and experience what its like to be at the water.

This is called the Phantom Ship.

You can do several short hikes to view this little island from different angles.

Our trip was very last minute, we woke up and Thatcher picked our destination.

Little did we know, there are several fires happening.

Once we arrived we noticed smoke.

Eventually, we found it.

As the sun went down.

The haze rolled in.

Soon the sky was milky with color.

The light was incridible.

This is a half view of Crater Lake.

The other half is the first image in this post.

Sunset was stunning.

I like your style!
Your post flows in a natural and effortless way almost as if it was meant to be exactly as it is!
Your words as well as your phone images transfer us in a world (your world) where everything is simple and beautiful.
The first image is beyond criticism. It is amazing, not as a phone shot but as a picture overall.
Congratulations for the @curie upvote, the @daveks "Spotlight" and the first place in the "Deranged Photography Contest".
All well deserved :)

I really enjoyed reading this comment! Thanks for the support!
It has been rad to have the support of the Steemit community, especially lately :)

Wow I love the pictures, especially the first one is absolutely stunning. It almost looks like a drawing in a fairytale because of the light and the (I think it is) mist .. very very cool. I hope to be at a place like this some day to make these kind of stunning pictures. Great job!

Thanks! I'm really happy with the scenes I was able to capture! :)

They all are created with phone :O ? First one looks like nice long exposure. I'd love to know what's your equipment

So you mean that all these pictures were taken with a smartphone? Wow, that's insane and you have all my respect for that! :)
And about the lake, I must admit that between waterfalls and lakes I would always go for waterfalls when I want some adrenaline but I would glady visit a lake on a sunrise or sunset as IMO there is no other place more peaceful than a lake. And all these shots with the gorgeous Crater Lake are pure fantastic!

Uh huh! My Iphone! No attachments. I do edit in Lightroom and Photoshop. For this post specifically, the first image is the only edited image. I love lakes and waterfalls! I just had such high expectations!
Thank you!

I know how it feels as it happened for me too, even after a 12hours route of hiking. But I'm always taking the good part of everything so I won't get too depressed. 😇

Alexa this entry to the contest is high voltage.
The crater lake was shot in the ribs, under the feet and elsewhere. 😁😁😁
Was fun

Such an amazing post. I can not wait to go back to Oregon to get more pictures. It is such a beautiful state. If I were to stay here in the US, I would be moving to Oregon in the future.

This was one of my shots of Crater Lake from our vacation to Oregon last year.

Thank you! Oregon is pretty awesome! Hopefully, you'll be able to come back soon!

Nice shot! I'm stoked to go back and experience it again!

Gosh, your photos make me want to go for a lake swim there so badly, it looks absolutely beautiful! Your captures of that soft evening light, and the sun going down are really remarkable- and that final shot is like something from a fantasy story!

Congratulations on your Curie vote. I really hope you'll post again if you return and make your way down to the water- I'd love to see more of what it's like from the shore.

I’m very excited to return and experience the water!
I will definitely post about it when I do :)

Thank you for the support!

On a SMART PHONE???

I think your phone is a lot smarter than mine, I had assumed these where well crafted shots taken with wide angle lenses with apertures and all those technical words involved! I bet you are messing with your smart phone settings, because mine does not do this on 'auto'! LOL!

I loved the story, simple and elegant with breathtaking shots, and I enjoy your sense of humor that comes out, I mean a singing lake is one thing but this one is just sitting there!

Well done, thoroughly enjoyed :)

Yup! On an iPhone!
I actually only adjust the exposure.
Typically I’ll edit images in Light room and Photoshop, in this post only the first image is edited.

I enjoy putting some voice in my posts, I believe it makes for a more enjoyable read :)

Lol I wish it did sing! But I’ll take the sunset it gave us ;)

Thank you for the comment!
