Bireuen Regent Reviews Collapsed Bailey Bridge in Matang Bangka Jeunieb.
As an effort to re-smooth crossing access via the bailey bridge which collapsed since February 4, 2023 due to flooding. The Regent of Bireuen, Aceh Province, H Mukhlis, ST, Saturday (3/22/2025) reviewed the location to see its condition for repair.
During his visit, he was accompanied by the Head of PUPR Ir Fadhli Amir, ST MT IPM Asean.Eng and staff. The aim was to see the construction of the bridge needed on the alternative route so that it could be used again by the people of Jeunieb, Pandrah, Simpang Mamplam Districts.
The Regent of Bireuen, H Mukhlis at the location said that this bailey bridge was built after the tsunami as an emergency bridge and for the past 2 years its condition had collapsed due to flooding.
"Currently, we have seen the condition of this bridge has been damaged for a long time and has not been repaired as if it had been abandoned. I will try to take concrete steps so that this bridge can be used again in 2025," he said.
"Hopefully the budget for repairing this bridge can be allocated through the APBK-P so that by the end of 2025 it can be used again and the public can cross this bridge smoothly again," he hoped.
The Regent's story, after the tsunami disaster, the central government provided assistance in the form of a Bailey bridge as an emergency bridge built above the Kuala Gampong Matang Bangka Jeunieb stream.
In fact, Regent H Mukhlis was the one who worked on it so he knew exactly the condition of the bridge. The condition of the bridge's steel frame is still good. "I worked on this Bailey Bridge first, the abutment that was built first was indeed simple because it was an emergency bridge," he explained.
Regarding the handling of excess flood damage, the Regent said that only a permanent abutment needed to be built, after that, the steel frame which was still in very good condition was still used, he said.
