Hi,

when I was young, I learned the hard way that the peer pressure is something that can harm somebody. Well, as I was 14, I got into some bad circle which did bad stuff. I was not agreeing to it, but did not have the guts to tell them this. At some point, they put me to do something bad, which might have screwed my entire life after that. I accepted, even I was full aware of the consequences. Well, stuff was bad, as in some countries you might lose your life for this.
After two weeks, I left that entourage and told myself, to never do these things again.

I've realized only after, that it could have cost my future, just to prove something stupid. Since then, I was before 21:00 at home in my high school years, and this only because I had late evening training.

In university, a lot of people tried to put me to do stupid stuff. I knew back then, that I'm already doing stupid things by myself, no need encouragement from others to do more. Also, it eats your time, and mostly, it doesn't add any value to your value.

These days there are a lot of people inviting me out, but when it is not business mandatory, I prefer to stay at home with the family. Even if going out enlarges the network. I'm on the principle to speak with everyone, as we never know what the future might bring. I've found some real good friends and business friends by doing so. Maybe I shall go, even just for a short time, as there is always somebody new I speak to.

One important about peer pressure, if you don't want to do it, don't do it. If you are tired at a party, go home and rest. Don't go into stupid drinking. If you drink, take your time and enjoy it, and never ever get wasted.

Also, never invest because others do so. Analyse and make your own view and choice, based on the facts.

If everyone is buying a thing, you might need to sell it. Or find a mean to profit from the greed. I remember a couple of years ago, everyone was buying this ugly t-shirts from Christian Audigier called Ed Hardy. I was wearing plain black t-shirt at that time, or a white shirt as casual attire with navy blue trousers. And never owned something ugly (for my taste) as that Ed Hardy crap.

How about you? Did you fall for the peer pressure trap?
