Family visits to the Crocodile Park in Torremolinos, Spain.

in #holiday8 years ago

For quite a few years my wife's mum lived in Spain, this led to many family holidays and as she lived in a Spanish town away from the many English communities it gave us the chance to see the real Spain and meet the wonderful and friendly people of those town. As well as spending days at the towns community swimming pools we also liked to explore and have made a few visits to the Crocodile park at Torremolinos which was about an hours drive away. These pictures are a small collection of the visits we've made there.

This big lad is the largest croc at the park even though he has the end of his tail missing after a disagreement with another croc. He's now kept on his own.

This fella above didn't seem to want to move much until it came to feeding time, then the speed he got to the dead chickens thrown into the water showed why crocodiles are fearsome preditors in the water.

As you walk into the park you come across these two crocs, they are quite friendly in a stuffed sort of way and will happily pose with your kids for pictures.

There is also this guy who likes to sneak up behind the kids while they're not looking.

The park also breeds their own crocs and you can walk around their hatchery to see their young or if you're really lucky the crocs hatching.

You also have the chance to hold one of the younger crocs. (It's mouth is taped shut to save on visitors loosing fingers as even at such a young age they can be quite dangerous.)

This is me trying to make friends with a baby croc of about a year old if I remember right.

And just to show you how big the croc from the first picture is, here is one of the guides who jumped into his enclosure to talk to him, don't be fooled by that stick. It would be no defence if the croc got mad but they tend to be slow on land and not so agressive unless threatened.

Thanks for reading and if you're ever in that part of Spain then go visit the Crocodile park, a great day out at a great price.
