History has it that before the colonial era the people of of Andoni in Rivers State had commercial contacts with the European merchandise and other neighboring ijaw clams such as Kalabari,okrika,Bonny,Okoro,Ette people present lkot-Abasi as well as the Okoutip of and Mkpanak people of lbeno,all of these converged accross the atlantic ocean in the Southern part of Nigeria in the West Africa region.

The people of Andoni have several sources of livelihood such as trading, farming ,mining and fishing as a major occupation.

Crayfish As a Major Fishing Occupation
The people of Andoni of make use of several methods of fishing to get crayfish front the Atlantic ocean but two methods are highly pronounced which is the use of Canoe and fishing Net and also the use of a local made boat well constructed with a 40 horse power engine or other engine depending on the capacity of the boat and a fishing net.
The boat which is consist of maximum of two persons is driven into the atlantic ocean to get the crayfish and bring it back to the community for further processing.

Measurements Of Crayfish After Catched
The crayfish after catch is measured by the fishermen into the smaller basket in the picture below which is currently at about #8000 and it's sold to the buyer who in turn will dry the crayfish and also sell it out to buyer's for further sells or consumption.

Nutritional Value Of Crayfish
There are 14grams of proteins in a 3 ounce serving of crayfish .They contained a high level of omega-3-fatty acids and also high in Vitamin B and minerals such as iron,Zinc,Magnesium, Phosphorus and Niacin.
