Introducing the, err....Wacky Mum

in #teammalaysiababes7 years ago (edited)

I’m feeling self-conscious when it comes to self introduction, also my first post on STEEMIT. My first thought was "will anyone read?". I hardly get ‘likes' for my social media posts. What more a full page all about myself?

Then I thought , if I want to stay ahead in the game I need to get over my ego and insecurities, don’t expect much and keep learning. I’m thankful to @angiechin28 and @coloringiship for organizing a talk and shared information about STEEMIT at Founding Women Get Together on 21 April 2018. I was fortunate to be there. They gave me the motivation to kickstart my venture with STEEMIT.

So here I am. It’s now or never.

My name is Alexandra, everyone who knows me just call me Alex. I live in Malaysia and currently a member of SAHM.

I graduated with a degree in Information Technology but ended up doing jobs mostly related to sales and marketing...by accident. After working in corporations for few years, I got bored. I was frustrated with 9-6 jobs, traffic jams and office politics. When Robert Kiyosaki’s ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ became a hit, I embarked into the ‘entrepreneurship’ bandwagon. I started not only 1 but 3 businesses. Then I closed all 3 of them after I was pregnant with my second child.

So what happened to those businesses? Lots of mistakes. Lots of dramas. I won’t elaborate further but I shall share my sob stories in my future posts. Maybe just the lessons I’ve learned. Having said that, I’m not done with entrepreneurship yet. It is still what I want to do and working on right now.

One of my businesses in the past was dealing with chairs and tables arrangement

A part of me is very much about travelling. Those days when I was super single and free, I would work on 2 jobs to earn extra income for traveling expenditure. I went backpacking with my siblings and friends, sometimes alone. I could spend an entire day in an art museum, historical site or park.

Thanks to my dear husband, I’m now grounded at home with 2 kids. Before I said ‘I DO’, I was even thinking of becoming some sort of volunteer in Nepal or Cambodia. Suddenly I could not resist the engagement ring and those puppy eyes. Life is so unpredictable.

I can still go travelling again, but it won’t be the same again....until the day my kids don’t want to travel with me anymore. For now, let’s hope that traveling with kids will be much more fun, exciting and exhilarating. LOL.

When my youngest become a toddler soon, I’ll be looking forward to go for many adventures together. Be it Singapore, JB or maybe Batam.

Occasionally when my hormone changes I can be quite a gadget junkie. From headphones to drones, I find it amusing how technology has perfected our way of lives - to be able to listen to a gentle sound clearly, to get bird’s-eye view on places so beautiful but difficult to reach, or simply shorten our tasks by the speed of light. Too bad I can’t spend like Jho Low.

My latest possession

I like to think that I’m wacky. Haha, a wacky mum.

That’s pretty much what I want to share here and also the few topics of my interest on this blog. I should stop now or I will go on forever. I’m happy I made my first post.

Chill, Alex. One post at a time.

Hello alxdreamer! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
