Guptillchallendge. Draw with ink. The first chapters.
I want to learn to draw with a pen. It's time to start challenge #guptillchallenge . Over than 18 chapters of the book I will draw with ink according to Arthur Guptilla’s book “Rendering in Pen and Ink”.
Want to learn with me? Teg me, draw according the book and post your results.
I have already read the first two chapters, which talk about materials and ink drawing. Although ink has been used since the days of ancient Egypt, ink drawing has taken root only in recent centuries, and before that, sketches with a pen were used as sketches for paintings. The main development happened after 1825 and the invention of the metal pen 🤷♀️. Well, in our age, we have already invented so much materials and inks that it will be very difficult to choose ((But don’t stop too much on choosing - take what is easier to get!
So, materials:
I will draw (see the slides):
- drawing album with paper 100 g
- Bristol from @smltart with a density of 185 and 308 g
- pen asterisk and pen N23 (I do not know the manufacturer)
- black mascara
- Touch liners (just in case)
The main thing for me is the smoothness of the paper on which my pen will slide 😂. And what will you draw on?
In the third lesson of the book, the author offers to do exercises: strokes in different directions, with different pressure on the pen. Special attention should be paid to curved lines.
I would refer this lesson to the vital, because drawing is completely dependent on the skill of using a pen when drawing a line. Even the super composition and plot will not save pictures with blots and incomprehensible lines, although they also have charm.
It was easy for me to get a straight strokes, but I’d have to repeat the curved line a couple of dozen times 😜. And how are you?
P.S. If you know a sponsor who wants to take part in this Challenge, call with you!
I have no doubts that you'll succeed. I wish you many happy drawings! ☺️
Thank you!))
Interesting to discover that the Egyptians used ink a couple of thousand years ago!
Yes, it's hard to believe)
¡Te deseo Mucho éxito en tus dibujos!..
Cool idea, good luck in your ink journey:)
Thank you!))

This is wonderful, @amalinavia. I wish I had time to draw with you! I barely have enough time to write, which is my true passion. But I used to draw a lot, and it would be so fun to get back to it.
