The Nile, the second longest river in the world
Hi friends, and I'm sure everyone knows in that world about the Nile, with a length of 6,853 km, the Nile is number 2 the longest in the world. And also the Nile is located on the Continent of Africa by passing 11 countries & empties into the Mediterranean sea.
The name of the Nile is derived from the Semitic name "Nahal" then changed to "Neilos" which means river valley.
And for the knowledge that there are 11 countries that are crossed by the Nile and this includes, among others.
Ethiopia
Eritrea
Sudan
South Sudan
Uganda
Tanzania
Kenya
Rwanda
Burundi
Egypt
Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Distribution of Nile River Water
Countries that have passed the river, want a more equitable distribution of water. The agreement in 1959 between Egypt and Sudan gave Egypt the right to 55.5 billion cubic meters of river water a year, almost two-thirds of the river's current flow of about 84 billion cubic meters.
- Nile River Springs
Need to know the source is still much debated. Generally people agree that the source of this river is Lake Victoria, which is the largest lake in Africa.
However, further observations show that on the north side of the lake there is a waterfall called Ripon Falls that has a small hole where the Nile River should come from.
But this cannot be made a strong fact because there are many rivers flowing into Lake Victoria.
Until finally, the Kagera River and its tributary called Ruvubu in Burundi are considered the source of the Nile River.
Hopefully this knowledge can be useful for all of us.
