Like every other countries, the independence day of Nigeria is celebrated with great zeal and festive fervor.

Yeah, Officials may put up some parades and social functions, to mark the day, It is actually their duty to do so...

but then an average citizen feels almost the direct opposite, quite a few feel the need for the celebration while many others see no cause to celebrate.

But the truth remains that the beauty of this day of Independence in Nigeria lies in the fact that it pose as a sort of connection between the citizens and bind almost all Nigerians in one accord not only within the country but also outside the country even as far as into the lands of America and Europe.

The people that were born before nigeria gained her Independence and also had the opportunity to live through or rather survive the critical phases of series of development the country went through would of cause understand why there is need to celebrate.

Ok, maybe we should do a quick recap of the history of Nigeria's struggle for independence

Evidences, tho historically proves that the earlier inhabitants of Nigeria were believed to have the Nok tribe followed by Kanuri, Hausa and Fulani who are migrants of the country in the subsequent years.

Sometimes In the 13th century, Islam was introduced in Nigeria, and the Kanem Empire continued to rule the country till sometimes in the 14th century.

Goingby the annexation of British in 1886, it became a British colony in the later years. After several years of hard struggle and political hilobalo Nigeria achieved independence on 1st October 1960.

Now, Culturally, Nigeria which happens to be one of the diverse countries of Africa, is home to more than 250 linguistic ethnic groups having Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani and Igbo as the major!!!

We also need to know that the vast mineral resources has extensively contribute to the economic upsurge of the country...

And lastly, The Nigerian Independence day would remain incomplete without paying homage to its notable freedom fighters and leaders who have inspired the country independence...
