Rest after distant tremors in the thermal waters of Greece
Long hikes through the ancient Greek cities tired our legs. After such walks, it was urgent to immerse themselves in water, preferably healing.
We wanted to get into some thermal springs. As far as I heard, in Greece there is everything, including such sources.
We were in the north of the country and decided to look for these sources somewhere here.
Among the green forest on Mount Voras and the Aspropotamos River, which means “white river”, there are the natural thermal springs of Greece - Loutra Pozar Aridea.
Loutra is located near Thessaloniki. The distance is about 100 kilometers. The streams themselves, which give us the warmth and tenderness of nature, coupled with the mountain landscape and the color of local villages, make their way out of the ground directly along the mountain river Thermopotamos.
What can be said about the terms themselves, that is, about natural sources. There are two pools, one of which is natural, with a real waterfall, divided into 2 parts with cold and warm water. The flow of water falling from above will make you a great massage. The temperature of the thermal keys is +38 degrees.
River, mountains, crystal clear air, mineral water that flows there literally at every corner. To plunge into a warm spring, when the winter in Greece and around the gorge is covered with a snow blanket, and from the nearby taverns the smell of barbecue is heard - it will not leave you indifferent to this place.
We arrived at these places by evening. We found a hospitable house where we stayed for the night. In the morning we went to look at the baths.
The weather was cloudy and not very warm, but even in such weather I managed to get under the charm of those places. The forest was like a park. Large trees, many different herbs. Large stones and a deep gorge.
Everything is like in a fairy tale.
When you walk along the path, you hear the sound of a waterfall or the murmur of streams.
To visit the sources you need:
Bring a bathing suit, bathrobe, slippers and your own towel. If you forgot a towel or bathrobe, you can rent it on site. Daily prices for visiting thermal baths vary from 2-3 euros per person.
Each hot spring has showers, changing rooms and bathrooms. On the territory of the baths there are eight thermal pools, in which up to 6 people can take water procedures at the same time. Price for 1-3 people 10 euros. Pools are open around the clock.
Of course, when I went to Loutra, I thought that there would be a spa there, for example, in Baden-Baden, or maybe in Budapest. But here everything turned out to be much simpler.
This is both good and bad. It’s good that everything is very democratic and simple. Bad if you want a more convenient and comfortable stay.
But here is a walk through the woods, air, a sense of nature - everything is very good here! I can safely recommend this place to visit.
