Basic Knowledge in Agriculture
Hello friends, how are you all doing today, hope that you people will be fine and doing great in life. @hive-118902 decided a contest about knowledge of agriculture activities so I will answer the following questions introduced by organizer.

Q1: In your own words, what is photosynthesis, and what importance is it in agriculture?
- From my school days I am learning about photosynthesis and last time I read about it in my college. Still I remember its definition.
"Photo" means light and "Synthesis" mean process. In photosynthesis sunlight is absorbed by leaves and water by roots. CO2, sunlight and water combines to make O2 and energy.
In agriculture photosynthesis is important because plants saves this energy in solid material, this energy is actually the food we receive from plants. The stored energy is available in a form of food.
Q2: What are the key essential nutrients required by plants, and what role does each of them play in plant growth?
- Key essential nutrients and their role:
| Nutrients | Role |
|---|---|
| Oxygen | Needed at night time for breathing of because its production is stopped at night. |
| Carbon | Needed for photosynthesis to create energy and oxygen. |
| Water | Again for photosynthesis, standing still, transportation of elements in plants and for transpiration. |
| Nitrogen | Included in chlorophyll and it is used for protein production, amino acids includes nitrogen elements. |
| Phosphorus | Growth of plants; used in cell division in plants and reproduction of plant cells. |
| Potassium | Used in absorption of CO2 and O2(at night). It is the main component behind stomata operations. |
Q3: Briefly explain this terminologies; ¹"mixed farming" and ²"crop rotation."
1: Mixed Farming: It involves farming activities and also grazing of livestock. In this we do the agricultural activities by growing crops and also reproduction of cattle industry.
2: Crop Rotation: Crop rotation only involves farming activities. Growing same or different types of crops on a same land. Extracting food from these crops.
Q4: Explain three (3) roles of agriculture in your country.
Agriculture provides food for humans and animals, certain crops as cotton provide thread; used to make clothes and other wearing things, it provides seeds to be grown again and lastly, it contributes to economy in our country; export of crops and taxes on selling crops generates better GDP.
