Community friends hope you will be well. Today we are about to talk the garlic crop. This project is about six months old and has just completed five months. It may take about a month to complete the project. This project may take about a month. So let's go to our project.
Canva Design by amjadsharifGarlic cultivation is a hard -working but profitable task. This crop project is six months, and thankfully, five months have been completed. Now the harvest is only one month left, and the crop is in the best condition. This time I used natural methods, relied on organic fertilizers, and most importantly, paid special attention to the soften the soil every week, which caused the plants to remain healthy and no diseases were attacked.
Soil Preparation and Weekly Softening Strategy

During the preparation of the soil, I took special care that the soil was soft and fertile so that it could easily spread the roots of garlic 🧄. Initially, the earth was deeply plowed and used organic fertilizer, dung and compost. Later, every week, hoeing to keep the soil soft, which improved the air passage in the soil and helped to grow the roots.

Garlic Crop and Proper Watering Technique
Water management is an important step in cultivating garlic. In my experience, I adopted a special strategy: Before giving water, the earth allowed it to be harden (tightened) and then irrigated. This method proved to be very effective for better crop growth.
Allowing the Soil to Harden Before Watering
| Soil Harden Before Water | ![]() |

Before giving water to the garlic crop, I allowed the land to be tightened for a few days. Its main purpose was to strengthen the roots and allow them to grow deep in search of water. When the ground was completely tightened and the upper surface felt dry, I used to apply water.
When Does the Garlic Crop Need Water?
When the soil is tightened: When the upper surface of the earth is tightened and the hand is dry, it is necessary to give water.
Bending the Leaves of the Plant: If the freshness in the leaves begins to diminish and they begin to bow down, it is a sign that the plant needs water.
Watering According to the Weather: It is sufficient to give water once a week, while irrigation is done every four to five days after seeing the hardness of the earth in the summer.
Softening the Soil after Giving Water

After giving water I continued to soften the earth weekly so that:
The roots can get better oxygen.
The humidity remained longer.
More nutrition in the roots and be protected from diseases.
In this way of watering, the crop was protected from diseases, the roots were strengthened, and the garlic bulbs became large and healthy. Now the crop is close to harvest, and hopefully production will be excellent.
Benefits of Keeping the Soil Soft
Many benefits from softening the soil each week:
- Improvement of Roots: The soil does not spread the roots of the plant properly, but the roots in the soft soil easily spread and the garlic bulbs (the bulbs) grew better.

Moisture Control: Soft soil maintains moisture better, which is getting the necessary water to the plant and the roots did not deteriorate due to excessive water.
Prevent Diseases and Pests: Fungus and diseases are more likely to occur in the soil, while softening the soil helps prevent fungal diseases.
Better Effect of Organic Fertilizers: When the earth is constantly kept soft, the fertilizer is better absorbed into the soil and provides more nutrition to the crop.
Safe from Diseases and Pests
Praise be to Allah, no disease or insects were attacked in my field. The main reason for this was that I adopted organic methods instead of chemical fertilizers and toxic medicines and kept the soil improved.
Final Stage Before Harvest

Now my crop is almost ready for harvest. The plants are in the stages of their last development, and the garlic arthritis contained under the ground are nearing completion. I have reduced the amount of water so that the soil is dry and the harvest is easy.
Garlic Crop - Number of Plants and Required Place
Land planning is very important in cultivating garlic so that the production is required. According to my experience, 500 plants are sufficient for the annual need of three to four people. This requires proper selection and planning of the soil so that the plants get a place and nutrition for complete development.
Required Land Area
About 100 to 120 square feet of land is needed to grow 500 garlic plants, which is also possible in a small domestic garden or kitchen garden. It is better to keep a distance between 6 inches between each row and 4 inches between the plants.
Space Requirement, Plant Count and Price Per KG
| Number of Plants | Household Size (People) | Expected Yield (kg) | Required Land (sq. ft.) | Expected Price ( kg ) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 plants | 3 to 4 people | 20-25 kg | 100-120 sq. ft. | 300 PKR ( 6000-7500 )/ 7.5 STEEM ( 150 -187.5 ) |
Conclusion
Conclusion
This whole experience was very useful to me. The technique of keeping the soil soft every week gave the best results, and the use of organic fertilizers increased the fertility of the soil. Now the last month is left, and it is hoped that the crop will give the best production and the market will be sold at a good price.
If you want to grow garlic for domestic use, 500 plants will be enough to meet the need for an average family. Organic fertilizer and soil softening strategies can get good yields.
Friends, who have grown Garlic their home Garden. They can share their ideas with me. Thank you!
