Good day to you all hardworking and wonderful members of this great platform and supportive community, it is my pleasure to be returning to the steemit platform and making my first post in this community after I took some time off due to some circumstances.

I would like to appreciate the host of this contest for this opportunity and effort and I humbly present my entry.

WHAT IS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF EMOTIONS

So what do I understand by emotions firstly I would like to say that emotions are complex and cannot be labeled in its entirety, but basically emotions are feelings and psychological experiences that are triggered by a number of reasons in response to maybe internal or external or conscious or subconscious stimuli.

I would secondly then now say that emotions covers and encompasses a wide range of feelings some of which have not yet been defined or termed, from joy and love to anger and fear and others ones l only heard of recently like nostalgia, conscientiousness and so on.

Emotions basically has to do with and involve physiological changes, cognitive appraisal, and also behavioral responses to triggers and as such they play a very important role and are the head of the spear when it comes to regulating human behavior, influencing the decision making processes, social interactions, and ultimately a person's well being.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD EMOTIONS THAT MADE YOU LOOSE YOURSELF? TELL US ABOUT IT.

Yes, over the years I have had quite a number of instances in which I have lost myself and if I remember correctly it always have to do with one emotion and that emotion is anger, and all those around me back then including my siblings and parents would say that anger really has a transformative power over me.

For someone like me who is typically quite, reserved, respectful and avoid conflicts, anger in so many cases have triggered and lead to me loosing my usual demeanor and temperament and therefore manifesting rudeness and even aggression instead.

But over the years though, my outburst has finally reduced and I have been trying to manage my anger through self awareness and very effective coping strategies.

EXPLAIN FIVE WAYS TO DEAL WITH EMOTIONS

Seek Social Support: It is important that when you are dealing with overwhelming emotions that you talk and share your feelings with close and trusted friends, family members, or a therapist because just like the saying goes
'a problem shared is half solved'.

Avoid negative thoughts : Another way to deal with emotions is to avoid developing and maintaining a negative thought pattern and instead focus on positive thoughts only this will help you to cope and not feel like life is out to get you.

Identify and know your emotions: If you are being troubled or plagued with emotions you need to identify and know which emotion is responsible for your problems this step basically is second only to talking about your emotions, when you know and I identify your emotions it's only then you can know what to do next.

Practice Emotional Regulation: Once you have been able to know and identified what emotions is responsible for your problems the next thing to do is to look for techniques to help regulate these emotions, some have found that writing about what they are feeling helps and is therapeutic seeing has it helps you focus on arranging your words and thoughts on paper.

Avoid adopting unhealthy Coping Mechanisms: Another way to cope with stress is to avoid adopting unhealthy coping strategies like substance or drug abuse, overeating rather one can pray, engage in activities that promote well-being, such as hobbies or spending time in nature.

DO YOU THINK EMOTIONS COULD HINDER SOMEONE FROM ACHIEVING THEIR DREAMS

Yes, I think and know for a fact that emotions have the potential to hinder someone from achieving their dreams because when individuals experience and go through intense or overwhelming emotions such as fear, self doubt, or anxiety, these feelings can be so strong as to distract and impede progress towards set goals.

Some emotions too can lead to procrastination and setting off goals, avoidance of challenges, or fear of decision making and as a result preventing individuals from taking necessary steps towards filing their goals and aspirations.

Additionally, emotions like depression can cloud judgment and distort perception, causing individuals to think they do not deserve, want or are worth achieving any kind of goals as a result they remain stagnant in life.

CONCLUSION

Emotions is not easy to control by oneself.

This can hold us back from taking the necessary steps to achieve our goals and fulfill our aspirations. Procrastination can sneak in when we let these emotions take control. It's important to recognize these patterns and find ways to overcome them, so we can move forward and make progress towards our dreams. By understanding how our emotions can impact our actions, we can better navigate through these challenges and stay focused on what we want to achieve. Wishing you all the best.

Emotions can be really strong and stubborn to be ignored. Looking for a place or a person that can distract and redirects one's mind to something more positive does a whole lot.

One can only do better when his mind is in a better position and you have clearly listed the negative effect of the wrong emotions in the last paragraph.
