The awaited Ghana squad to face Nigeria announced
The interim manager of the Ghana black star Otto Addo has given out the 27 players to face Nigeria in the world cup qualifiers. This is the match to determine the one who will qualify for the 2022 Qatar world cup although it will be played in both away and home games.
The first league of the match will take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Ghana while the second match will be played in Nigeria.
On Tuesday, the 22nd March 2022 was when the list was given out. The list that was pronounced by the interim head coach was officially announced by the football association. It was not a surprise to see players like Thomas Party and Djiku on the list and neither was it to see players like Amartey the Leicester Cities defender.
Although there were a lot of rumors that the players consist of a majority of locally-based and most especially the Ghanaian premier league players, it was surprising to see only one of such play who plays for Hearts of Oak.
There was a total of 4 goalkeepers, 4 strikers, and wingers with six midfielders, and the most been defender with a total of 9. Felix and Odoi were some new names to have come on the list and I hope they can prove to us why they are called.
The table below gives details of the players called and their positions
Positions | Players |
---|---|
Goalkeepers | Joseph Wollacott, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Richard Ofori, Lawrence Ati Zigi. |
Defenders | Andy Yiadom, Dennis Korsah, Gideon Mensah, Daniel Amartey, Alexander Djiku, Joseph Aidoo, Dennis Odoi, Abdul Mumin, Montari Kamaheni. |
Midfielders | Baba Iddrissu, Edmund Addo, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Daniel Kofi Kyere, Elisha Owusu |
Wingers | Osman Bukari, Joseph Paintsil, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Christopher Antwi Adjei, Yaw Yeboah. |
Forwards | Christopher Antwi Adjei, Felix Afena Gyan, Kwasi Wried, Jordan Ayew. |
It is my prayer and hopes that we will witness a great game at the stadium come Friday. All the best to both sides. I will however be glad to see your predictions at the comments section.
This time, I can say that Black Stars has been blessed with quite a great force of players. I hope the interim manager knows how to be quite tactical with them. I can't wait to see what happens.
It will be such a great game to watch
No doubt about that. Let's hope that our mother land qualifies.
