Noah's ark: A lesson in obedience and protection

Everyone understands about Noah and the ark.

The storyline has been the main topic of many mystery plays , of films, and of television shows such as Captain Noah and His Magical Ark. Noah and the ark have been the main topic of board games, playthings toys and games, children's literature, and nursery wallpaper. And there are a good couple of theme parks built around Noah and the ark.

But what do we really find out about Noah? Very little that people can say for certain.

Noah was the grandson of Methuselah, the oldest man in the Bible, and dad of Ham, Shem, and Japheth. We have no idea when Noah resided, but estimates range between 5,500 BC to 2,300 BC, placing| him squarely in the Neolithic Period--the previous area of the Stone Era when metallic tools were becoming common, agriculture was expanding, and humans commenced to domesticate pets or animals.

Noah is appreciated for having built an ark in prep for an excellent Flood that demolished the entire world, with only Noah, his family, and a boatload of animals being kept. It's a tale informed in the Bible and in the Quran. And similar tales are found across the world.

The Statler Brothers recounted the start of the Bible's Noah tale pretty well.

The Lord viewed down from His windows in the sky,
Said, "I created man, but I don't keep in mind why.?
Nothing but fighting with each other since creation day.?
I'll send just a little water and clean'em all away."?

The Lord came up down to shop around a spell,?
And there is Mister Noah behaving mighty well,?
And that's the reason, the Scriptures record,?
That Noah found elegance in the sight of god, the father.

After Noah, his family, and animals acquired on the ark, an overflow came that protected "all the high mountains." Once the waters receded, the ark rested "on the mountains of Ararat," Noah opened up the door, allow animals out, built an altar, and worshipped God.

God promised He'd never again demolish the planet earth with a overflow andprovided the rainbow as an indicator of that promise

Noah is described many times new Testament and praised in Hebrews as a hero of beliefs: "It had been beliefs that made Noah listen to God's warnings about things in the foreseeable future that he cannot see. He obeyed God and built a boat where he and his family werekept. Because of this, the entire world was condemned, and Noah received from God the righteousness that comes by beliefs."
