My name is Khan. And I am not a terrorist.
"It's okay to be afraid, but don't let the fear be so great that it stops you from moving forward."
Greetings friends of Steemit.
I remember a few years ago hearing on the news, the discussion in Europe about how to solve the problem of migration, it was every day, not to mention in the US. And now in Latin America we are experiencing a similar situation, with the exodus of Venezuelans. We live in a time of intolerance, prejudging and stigmatizing migrants, since for a few, the righteous have to pay for sinners.
And this is exactly what this movie is about, intolerance and prejudice. And yes, we mean the Indian movie "My Name is Khan. And I'm not a terrorist."
"My Name is Khan. And I'm not a terrorist" is a dramatic Indian film, released in 2010. Directed and written by Karan Johar and starring Shahrukh Khan and the beautiful Kajol . It was one of the highest grossing films abroad.
Synopsis.
Rizwan Khan is a Muslim boy from India raised hard by his mother, as he suffered from Asperger's syndrome. As an adult, he traveled to the United States to reunite with his brother in search of a better future. Khan falls madly in love with Mandria, a single mother, an Indian woman but of a Hindu religion, and despite these differences they fall in love.
Despite religious differences, they decide to get married, but their happiness would not last long, because on 09/11/2001 the World Trade Center, better known as the twin towers in New York, would be demolished. This would be the beginning of the misfortunes of the Muslims in North American lands because the rejection, intolerance, racism and xenophobia, caused by the attack would be terrible.
In this way, Khan's family would suffer these acts of extreme repudiation, even his wife's son would die; for this reason his wife in a fit of anger points all the blame to Khan for being a Muslim. Thus, Khan decides to leave the house for the sole purpose of meeting with the president and making it clear to him and the world that he is a Muslim and is not a terrorist.
In this way, with his naivety and special talent that his suffering gives him, and as a vindication for his wife, he goes out in search of his goal, waging an odyssey until he can meet the president, and while on the way he passes all his adventures , will make these words clear -My name is Khan. And I'm not a terrorist.
I have to confess that I am not a regular follower of Indian films, but I know that for many years now they have been paying attention to their traditional style, especially with their unmistakable musicals and dances, and even taking in these times peculiarities of the Mecca of cinema like Hollywood.
From the endearing Joker, I remember as a child having seen this work from the 70s, to this modern Indian production, which blends in and modernizes, surprising Western theaters this time.
A separate mention, Shahrukh Khan, in my opinion the most recognized Indian actor in Indian cinema, plays one of his best roles; representing a young man who has Asperger's syndrome (one of the different spectra of autism), masterfully.
Hatred, prejudices, xenophobia, social stigma, are rubbed on our faces; but it teaches us in summary, that the problem of man is not found in their religions, beliefs or traditions, the problem of man is found in himself as an individual person and that evil is carried by his own motivations and not by excuses. I close with the phrase, "In the world there are only two types of people, the good and the bad."
Finally, I recommend this great work and it should be noted that like any good Indian film, it contains terrible scenes of tearing, be warned. Without more to say, I say goodbye and I await your comments.
Greetings and thanks.
