STEEMCHURCH: How much does sin weigh?
The next meeting took place between two people, a young man and a Christian worker who was preaching on the street:
-You. Talk about the burden of sin! How much does sin weigh after all? Twenty kilograms? Two hundred kilograms?
The preacher answered with a question: - Tell me, if I put a weight of eight hundred kilograms on the chest of a dead person, would I feel it?
- No, because he's dead, the young man replied.
- And the person who does not feel his burden of sin is spiritually dead, the preacher replied.
The Bible, the Word of God addressed to man, declares that all are dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:13), but many do not realize their condition. They do not feel the burden of their sins and therefore completely ignore the danger they are in.
It is like a man who is seriously ill and suffering intense pain. When suddenly the pain stops, he feels better and thinks that soon he will be recovering. The doctor shakes his head negatively. He knows that the critical state has already begun and that death is inevitable. Soon comes the end.
Could this be your spiritual diagnosis? You do not feel any regret for your guilt. He has no anxiety or fear about his eternal future. That is alarming. Wake up before it's too late!
Or perhaps you have already awakened to the fact that you are a sinner and that you have to "come to meet your God". In such a case he may rejoice, because God has anticipated his need and provided a Savior in the person of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Listen to this encouraging words: "But God shows his love for us, in that while we are still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5: 8)Our sins deserve their judgment, but the message of the Gospel is that the Lord Jesus is the substitute who has suffered for the sins of all who believe in Him. And that's why we read:
"Now therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit" (Romans 8: 1)."Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life; and he will not come to condemnation, but he has passed from death to life. " (John 5:24)
