Trip to Manipal- Pixi's Day Out

in #travel7 years ago

Hi SteemFam!

What do you like to do on your day off?
Read a good book?
Cook a big meal?
Bake some pastries?
Go on a long drive?

My family (mom, dad and bro) and I love going on long drives. Our trips are usually confined to one day… if we can help it. We usually keep our trips short because of an additional member of the family… Pixi.

As I have mentioned in a previous post (https://steemit.com/steemitphotochallenge/@andreanoronha/steemitphotochallenge-here-s-a-pic-of-my-baby-pixi), Pixi is a 6 year old German Shepherd and Dachshund mixed dog.
Like us, she is a big fan of riding around in a car. That probably stems from the fact that we made it a habit to take her for rides in the car, ever since she was a tiny pup.

She is so used to riding in the car that if we slow down the car for anything, she whines till the car speeds up... a real speed junkie this one.

The past few months, she has been unwell and for this reason our outings have reduced drastically as we do not feel comfortable leaving her by herself. Since she likes the outings too, we try to make our trips shorter so that she can tag along and enjoy the ride.

On Monday, we decided to go to Manipal (approx. 65 kms from where I live). It was a spontaneous decision; one that took place over breakfast. We decided to stay at my brother's room once we reached Manipal... just for a while, since there would be heavy rains.

Upon arriving at my brother's room we realized that in all the chaos of prepping for the trip, we had left his keys behind. Fortunately, we still had access to the terrace. We went up and spent some time admiring the view and deciding what we were going to do next.

She's camera shy... but low-key loves posing

After resting for a bit, we went to the nearby lake.

Form the lake we traveled another 15kms (approx.) to a place called 'Delta Beach'. We had our lunch [half of mine was eaten by Pixi :'( ] and went on to the beach. The term beach felt a little misleading to me. When we reached there, there were nothing but rocks that we had to climb onto to see the area where the river meets the ocean. My brother then showed me the opposite side of the river and explained that that was the delta.

Note: Please forgive my odd posture... I was trying not to fall to my death since Pixi was desperately trying to run to the river.

You have no idea how scary it was to stand there knowing that Pixi could try to jump down without the slightest provocation.

In hindsight, bringing Pixi all the way up on the rocks was probably risky for the both of us. We managed to get back in one piece though :)

I would have posted more photos (specifically selfies) but my brother deleted them, claiming that he looked "drunk". I cannot confirm the same since I never got to see those photos :/

Once we were done taking pictures, we made our way back home.

Please excuse the quality and the videography... it was a bumpy ride.

If any of you are wondering about the muzzle, we usually make her wear it when we go out because she can be a little unpredictable. She's not dangerous... just overprotective

I have been trying to come up with ways to make my posts better. I'm still learning. I learned a lot from my friend @sidwrites' post titled- 5 Powerful "Variety Hacks" To Change Your Steeming Forever! Although I did not follow all of the guidelines, I did get an insight into how I can make my posts more interesting and entertaining. So thank you @sidwrites for that awesome post! :D

Lovely pics and you are doing well with your blogs. Keep it up.

Thank you 😊

Nice outing with pixi.. Y the mouth guard though?

Lol.. I've already given the reason at towards the end of the post 😂
She puts dirty things in her mouth... she's already sick. We don't want her to get more sick... and then she is a little aggressive also people get scared easily... it's just a precaution so they feel safe.. and she also likes to chase cats and toads... she's bitten frogs twice and I've lost sleep over it.

Woah.. That's scary

Yup.. For the dog.. All d freedom gone

Her freedom isn't gone...

There are certain things we must do to stop her from getting herself hurt

Point.. Hopefully she is fine..
