Today is 14 February. This day is also known as valentine day but today is also a Hindu festival called Mahashivratri. Lord Shiva is a powerful god of Hindu mythology. He was a yogi and in Hinduism he called a god of destruction. Hindu people worship the Shivlinga. There is a Shivaratri in every luni-solar month of the Hindu calendar, on the month's 13th night/14th day, but once a year in late winter. In this festival Hindu celebrate the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
