Food dye is of course used to get the dough into the various different colours but to make the petals on a flower, you'll need to use the piping bag and carefully squeeze out the icing layer by layer. Everything starts off with a cone to form a firm base.

Once you have the firm centre base, you go around it with the piping and work each layer in.These are the finished sugar art roses ready for transfer to the cake.
