And coffee is not far behind, after the war of independence coffee plantations were started in different parts of the country. Thanks to the entrepreneurship that Gervasio Rubio had, who began sowing on his hacienda called Rubio in Trujillo, this was in the years 1794. After this, the coffee began its tour, beginning in Colombia.

What should be taken into account when growing coffee?
The following points should be taken into account.
Taxonomy: The classification of the coffee tree according to its genus, species or variety.
Species: The division of plants that belong to the same genus and meet common characteristics. As already explained in previous post, the best known species are: The Arabica and canephora
Varieties: It is the division into groups of the same species, these are distinguished by certain characteristics. For example, within the Arabica species there are infinities of varieties, some of them are La Typica and the Caturra species, these are differentiated by their size.
Plant morphology: The coffee plant is a shrub, which is known by the name coffee tree, it has pronounced, large, very green leaves. These plants are well cared for, they can be between two and six meters high, when they are wild and are not well cared for they can reach up to 10 meters high.
Coffee production.
A coffee plant begins to bear fruit after the usual three years, being well cared for, although it is more profitable after four year.
It all starts with the flowering of the plants, which are white with a strong jasmine smell. After this, the coffee cherries that measure about 1.5 cm, in color, begin to be produced. After 7 to 10 months they begin to mature, it all depends on the variety of the plant and the climatic conditions of the plants. There are occasions, where the plant has at the same, the flowers of the new harvest together with fruits of the previous harvest.
The fruits that are attached to the branches of the coffee tree are the coffee fruit, called cherry. These cherries are red or yellow when ripe. This skin is removed, at the time of the thresher. Each cherry of these has two grains inside, stuck face to face.

The cultivation of coffee is a beautiful science, a brilliant job that when done in the right way leaves an excellent satisfaction. The harvest time depends on the area where the coffee plantation is located. But here I want to share with you how the plant develops throughout the year:
February March and April the plants bloom with the beautiful white Jasmine-scented flowers.
Between May, June and July, the flower turns into tender coffee beans.
Between July and August they always go on to train better.
Between August, September and October they start to be pretty.
Between November December and part of January, they are ripe and you can start with the harvest and collection of red and yellow beans.
A super interesting fact about coffee is that its flavor depends on the height where the coffee plantation is planted. Believe it or not, the height greatly influences the taste of the coffee in the cup.
When it is said that a coffee was sown at more than 1500 meters, it is automatically known that this will be a coffee that will have higher acidity, so it will have a more intense flavor and smell, in short, the higher the quality in the cup.
Coffee flavor according to height:
Very high altitude: 1500 meters. | It will have a fruity flavor, with floral notes. |
Tall height. 1200 meters. | It will have a citrus flavor, and at the same time chocolatey. |
Average height. 900 meters. | Its acidity will be lower, therefore its flavor will be sweeter. |
Low height. 700 meters. | Super smooth flavor, less acidity and more earthy |
The correct temperature for the development of the coffee tree is between 17 c and 24 c. When the temperature is very high, it causes an excessive development of plant plants and affects the flowering and fruiting of the coffee tree. When the temperatures are very low I am causing the delay and the growth of the plants.
The altitude, the climate, the temperature, all this is important to take into account when growing coffee, taking into account the characteristics of the climate where the coffee plantations are located will greatly influence the final production of the harvest and its quality. All this influences the way that the plant will grow satisfactorily and fulfill all its reproduction stages such as reproduction, flowers, then the fruit and finally the maturation stage.
Now in Venezuela the coffee tree is cultivated between 1200 and 2000 meters, being the minimum of 800 and the maximum of 2,500 mm. It can be considered that these plants can develop in a dry environment, as long as the drought is not more than three months, as these periods really help a lot in the flowering part. Once the rain arrives, it will favor 100% in the flowering, growth and ripening process of the fruit.
