According to this theory, the gravity of the Earth captured the old moon of Venus providing our planet with its great natural satellite.

The theory of the "capture of the Moon" presupposes that the Earth used its gravitational attraction to capture a preformed space body in its orbit, which makes it a satellite of it.

However, the geochemical composition of the Moon and the Earth can disrupt this theory. The analysis of lunar rocks brought to our planet by the Apollo missions has shown that our satellite has an isotopic composition very similar to Earth.

"The reason why it is interesting, is that Earth and Venus are mutually close. They have similar masses, and it is believed that they were probably formed in a similar way.
