Health benefits and other uses of olive oil

I have always known that olive oil has some health benefits and much better to use than other oils like sunflower oil, but I found some interesting facts and uses of olive oil

  1. It is loaded with antioxidants and can protect the heart and blood cells from damage.
  2. Drinking some oil everyday can aid in weightloss and pain relief  (you have to however drink it in moderation)
  3. Drinking 2 tablespoons of oil every day may reduce the risk of  heart disease
  4. Olive oil is effective against oxidative stress (the inability of the body to detoxify the harmful effects of free radicals

This is all good and well if you want to keep yourself healthy but it was more interesting to me what the other uses  of olive oil is

  1. Use it as shaving cream - it retains the moisture of the skin and protects you from nicks and cuts
  2. A little olive oil on an earbud/cotton swab will remove the cutex on your cuticles (do this before it dries totally)
  3. Creaking door?  Swab it with a little olive oil
  4. Add a few drops in your bath water and you will be moisturised while soaking in the tub
  5. Apply a drop or two with an earbud/cotton swab on a stuck zipper and whala you are ready to go
  6. Sore throat?  Swallow a tablespoon full to sooth the aggrevated spot
  7. Your child's bubblegum "accidently" got stuck in their sibling's hair?  Olive oil works better than peanutbutter and not as sticky
  8. Use it as a lipbalm.  It will heal the chapped, dry skin of your lips 

And since it also benefits the brain, (which I tend to lose some days) I am going to the cupboard right now
