HOW MY WEEKEND DUTY UNFOLDED
My weekend call duty started early as I arrived at the hospital, ready to oversee my day’s duty. The hospital environment was looking very calm and less crowded because it's weekend. Mostly only those on call or shift duty runs the hospital on weekend duty. In cases of emergency, the Medical team are always on standby. Let's dive into my first task, which was going to the wards to review patients, assessing their nutritional progress, making necessary adjustments to their diet plans where necessary.

Apparently, for patients on specialized diets like those in the intensive care Unit (ICU), I ensured that they adhere to their dietary plan and also counseled them with their caregivers accordingly on dietary modifications and nutritional strategies to aid recovery. Each patient’s response to the meal plan was recorded, especially for those in ICU and the ones who were diabetic. Their blood glucose was checked and chatted for consistency of nutritional care, ensuring the medical team had updated information.

Thereafter, I moved into my next duty, which was monitoring the food preparation process in the hospital kitchen. I ensured that meals were prepared according to guidelines and as well maintaining hygiene while supervising the kitchen staff. The diet was prepared mainly for the medical Team on Call. The CMD and the management of the hospital have really made it so easier and fantastic for the Medical team to feel relax. And also to carry out their assigned duties effectively by making sure that, food is prepared and served to all those on call duty. The meal is prepared in the hospital diet kitchen by the health assistant and had to be carefully tailored to meet the nutritional needs of everyone.

Later in the day, I also supervised the serving aspect of the meals for the team on-call including doctors, nurses, dietitians, and the others. This “Call Food” service is essential in keeping the healthcare team nourished and energized during their shifts. Apparently, I ensured that every medical person's on call member on call received their meal before concluding my duties. By the time everyone was served, I felt really exhausted. With all responsibilities completed, I closed for the day and went back home. I am grateful to God for a productive and successful shift. I was relieved and decided to get some rest.
