Have you ever thought that you might actually know absolutely nothing about life and its realities? Have you ever questioned your belief systems and stopped believing the lies you have been told by your civilized society?

There is no denying the fact that your surroundings influence your thoughts and world views, in general. However, their knowledge and their life experiences aren’t always what they are portrayed as — true. Unfortunately, nobody ever told you that the lies were, well, just lies — meant to either make you feel good or let you down —which you adapted into universally accepted truths and eventually distorted your vision.

So now, how do you break free from the shackles of society? Take a look at the 10 biggest lies people love to tell you, and how you can and why you must stop believing them from now on…

1. Life Is A Struggle

Is it necessary to struggle so you can succeed in life? No, it isn’t. Life does not have to be made difficult in order to achieve success. Hard work pays, but so does smart work. When you are relaxed, consistent, and disciplined, you prioritize and complete your important tasks efficiently without feeling tired, frustrated and burdened. Remember: successful people often go to work to make their dreams a reality; they don’t refer to life or their work in a negative way. Life is beautiful: the passion you bring to your work is what typically leads to goals being met and dreams becoming reality — without the grind.

2. Life Is A Competition

Life is not a contest. Life is a journey, not a competition. You don’t live in a world where everyone has to kill/fight each other to prosper. The nature of universe is abundance and therefore, there are enough opportunities for everyone. Though healthy competition leads to innovation, shakes off complacency, and helps you focus on your core strengths, people often want competition to show that they are better off. Remember: fighting to win a competition to prove a point or to satiate your ego, ultimately leads to your own destruction. Life is beautiful: because we are all different, and because there are no winners or losers.

3. Nobody Is Perfect

We're all damaged in our own way. Nobody's perfect. I think we're all somewhat screwy. Every single one of us. Johnny Depp

Everybody is perfect in their own way, and everybody matters. How does it feel when others don’t respect your own unique way of understanding? What happens when they try to change you according to their way? Everybody makes mistakes, and every mistake matters. How do you succeed when you don’t know what failure brings? Remember: feel comfortable and be happy in your own skin; have the courage to follow your own path confidently. Life is beautiful: there are no mistakes in life, only lessons to be learned.

4. Time Is Precious

Then why do you kill time? The fact is, time is an illusion. Not how long, but how well you have lived, is what matters. You make life worth living - not by keeping your eyes constantly on years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, but by living your life and living it freely. Remember: your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life. Life is beautiful: spend your time on following your heart and intuition.

5. Money Makes You Happy

Can money buy you happiness? The truth is, money can only buy you happiness up to a point. After that, it starts ruling your life, sucks your energy, determines your relationships, and makes you imprisoned forever. Running after money is like trying to grab air: you can never have enough. Remember: there is no connection between having more money and being happy. Life is beautiful: flourish, but don’t become slave to your own ambition.

6. The Best Is Yet To Come

You have the most satisfying career, an outstanding lifestyle, modern gadgets, fit body, a loving and supportive family, and dreams for a bright future. Yet, the best is yet to come. Like, really? While there is nothing wrong in having a positive outlook, especially in a bad situation, it is equally important to be grateful for the things that you already have. Remember: if you're constantly searching for the next best thing, you're going to miss out on stuff you already possess. Life is beautiful: appreciate life, time is running out.

7. If It's Meant To Be, It Will Happen

So you must accept destiny, right? Wrong. Only death is meant to be in life, nothing else is. Instead of waiting for the life to happen, go out and make it happen. Leave nothing up to fate, and you'll never be disappointed. Remember: impossible is nothing. Life is beautiful: dare to dream; if you can dream it, you can do it.

8. To Make A Difference, You Need To Be Famous

If you want to make a difference in someone’s life, you don’t need to be gorgeous, rich, famous, brilliant, or perfect. You just have to care. Karen Salmansohn

Actors, pop stars, politicians, authors, and sportspersons seem like the pinnacle of accomplishment. But it’s not. Remember: be productive, be useful, be compassionate, and do things for people who will never pay you back. Life is beautiful: to make a difference, all you need is the intention to do the right thing.

9. Everything Happens For A Reason

No, it doesn’t. Sometimes, there are no lessons to be learned; life just happens. You can't analyze everything that happens in your life as some sort of cosmic sign trying to tell you something. Remember: over thinking takes you away from your present. Life is beautiful: don't pretend that if you wouldn’t have spilled that drink, your life would be any different.

10. If You Love Someone, Let Them Go; If They Return, They Were Always Yours

Well, if you genuinely love someone, why would you give up and let that person go? And, if you genuinely love someone, yet you let that person go, why would you sit around and wait for him/her to come back? What if they don’t return - would it mean you didn’t matter to them? Remember: if a relationship doesn’t work, it is absolutely okay to move on. Life is beautiful: fall in love, again.

Sort:

I think the last one might be different than you've written here.

if you truly love someone, you will let them be what they want to be and not hold them back (therefor, you let them 'go') and if they return to you of their own free will then you welcome them back.

because sometimes you can't always go where you loved ones want.

just thoughts. peace.
