Carl Sagan’s Eerily Accurate Prediction About the Demise of America

Far from being a mystic or a prophet, Carl Sagan was a man of science, a man of analytical reasoning, with a penchant for wonder and appreciation for the mystery of the cosmos. He’s well-known for his statement that ‘we are made of starstuff,’ just beings composed of atomic matter and held together by physics.
Published in 1995 shortly before Sagan’s death in 1996, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark was Sagan’s attempt to explain the scientific method to laypeople. He took it as his mission in life to alert the world that the intellectual foundation of our society and culture was in jeopardy of being overthrown in a new era of returning superstition, pseudoscience and anti-intellectualism.
It was the dumbing down of America that worried Sagan at the end of his life, and in The Demon-Haunted World he offered a rationally prophetic examination of where America was heading. Now, some 20 years later, his words are resonating with those who are paying attention to the changing cultural climate today.

The movie "idiocracy" is unfolding before our very eyes. It's astounding how uninformed so many people are. All in need to to do remind myself of this is to go to my Facebook feed or go to the gas station and stand in line.

Have to say, I think Sagen was a shill for NASA and only talked about "agreed upon and politically correct" subject matter. Many verboten subjects...
I agree! He talked about what he was allowed to talk about and did not go any further. Still, he was a very interesting guy for the times before we knew what we know today.

But one cannot but notice that the dumbing down of our society and culture started in academia during the seventies & the last decades of the twentieth century. Remember the famous Turkish proverb: " a fish rots from the head down". Case in point.

Millions and millions and billions and trillions spent to make us think we live on a ball and that global warming will be our demise unless we throw millions and millions and billions and trillions at fixing it.
