The 4 main causes of procrastination and the 4 most effective solutions to defeat it.
"Procrastination is a trap. You will always find excuses to procrastinate. But the truth is that there are only 2 things in life: the excuses and the results, and with the excuses do not go anywhere. "- Robert Anthony
Do you often postpone your commitments? The study, that project of work, a good purpose for the new year? Maybe you're procrastinating something important right now, reading this article.
Procrastination can be a real problem: hours or even whole days wasted not to finish anything, not to mention frustration and stress due to the inexorable deadlines.
I hope you do not often behave like acting like the boy in the picture would be a disaster for latent productivity!
I wrote for this the post you are reading, to help you stop procastinating and give you the opportunity for you that like me write about Steem to overcome the writer's block
Here are the 4 main causes of procrastination and as many solutions to stop postponing your commitments:
1. You are working too hard and bad
Procrastination could be a symptom of poor management of your time: in short, you are working too hard and bad.
If you continue to work / study until late at night or during the weekends, whether you like it or not, your brain will take breaks, creating a vicious circle in which more work and more work accumulates. It is no coincidence that in the most intense periods of study / work we find ourselves wandering between Facebook, Youtube and our favorite news site.
Solution: use the Parkinson's law to complete well-defined and effective work / study sessions. At the same time, create the time for your passions every day and for what makes you feel good.
2. What you do does not excite you
If you hate your job or feel you have completely wronged your course of study, there is no personal growth technique that you take: you will continue to procrastinate your commitments anyway.
Solution: it's time to rethink what you want to do when you grow up; make a list of your passions, of what moves you, of what you would do even without a salary.
Too easy to abandon a goal to the first obstacle, believing that it is not the right path for us: before convincing you that the course of study or the work you are doing is not for you, ask yourself if you really lost interest in the goal final or if to make you procrastinate is only a passing obstacle (a particularly complicated examination, a terribly boring project, etc.).
3. Do not love dirty work
Although you love your job, you often end up boring and routine activities: nothing serious.
We often have to complete activities that we believe are useless, superfluous and the result of a bureaucratically deviant mind. Even the most beautiful work in the world will have some of these activities; they are like spring pollens: unavoidable, annoying, but necessary (to the survival of plants, at least!).
Solution: do not focus on the single activity, frame it in an enlarged context, but above all think about how you will feel once you have freed yourself from this boring task.
4. You are scared
Fear and procrastination often go hand in hand. But what to do when you continue to put off for fear?
Whether it's looking for a new job, knowing the girl of your dreams, or starting your own business when you're frightening (even if you do not have the courage to admit it) you'll always find dozens of plausible excuses to postpone what you would and should do.
The procrastination dictated by fear is the worst that can happen: instead of chasing your dreams you find yourself immobilized, unable to react.
Solution: become aware that you are able to act in spite of fear, even acting in spite of our fears is the only way to make them vanish.
And you? Why are you procrastinating?

One of my favorite books is called, 'Eat The Frog'. And the basic idea is pick the thing that you least want to do, and do it first thing in the morning! Get it out of the way! And the rest of your day will be a breeze!! Thanks for the morning pep talk! :)
Thanks for your advice! It is definitely an effective trick to get rid of the most annoying tasks.
I would also add that creating a todo list and self-motivating to respect it is also a great secret to being able to avoid being distracted or finding excuses for not respecting your path.
And thanks for your comment @thehoneys! Of course, this book will be very useful for serial procrastinators! I looked for it and found it on Amazon
Oh great!! Enjoy !!!

Good luck 🤙
You are correct @antoniotrento. the 3-second rule has helped me a lot in procrastination, basically, I countdown form 3 with the will to stand up and do what I should be doing. @originalworks

Thanks for your comment @abmakko ! I firmly believe that in life you have to do what you want to be productive and happy at the same time (something that most people and companies have not yet understood) is the only way to live quiet and not stressed (maybe it takes stress and dissatisfied).
For me, the third point of this guide is still a problem 😊. I hate doing things that I do not like to do.
I wish you a merry Christmas in case you celebrate it.
