Three ways 'too much optimism' can be harmful!

in #optimism4 years ago

Optimistic is a positive word without any doubt. But do you know anyone who's too optimistic? It means they usually don't take account of what bad things happening around them and don't think much about what will happen either. They are too positive to feel sad about anything.

It sounds great, right? Until you figure out that this can be harmful in many ways. I'm not saying optimism is bad or we shouldn't practice that but we need to notice if we are taking accountable everything or just focusing on only the good things.

  • Evaluating things deeply.

You may find that people who are too optimistic are not taking things seriously. There's a chance to ignore risk factors and hints of upcoming bad events. Because tend to be focused on only the positive outcome. So they don't evaluate the negative side and miss the consequences.

  • Lake of problem-solving skills.

Overlooking the consequences and ignoring the little things can make us struggle to solve critical issues if we are too optimistic. Forecasting positive outcomes is a good thing but it also necessary to focus on how to solve current issues. Without this skill no one can be successful no matter how optimistic they are.

  • Taking things for granted.

When a person becomes too much optimistic then there's a high chance that they think they will achieve certain things for sure. Analyzing our surroundings and the consequences of any event is way more necessary than thinking we will make things right.

Again, I'm not saying optimism is bad. But we should think twice before being very optimistic about any event. When we make sure we ensure all these things we can hope that too much optimism will not ruin us rather it would be helpful.
