Pinang (Areca catechu) (English: Bethel palm) is a monocot plant that is classified as paleman. The areca tree belongs to the Arecaceae family in the order Arecales. This tree is a plant with high economic value and potential. Plants that have straight and slender stems have many benefits and are commonly known as medicinal plants. Utilization of areca plants other than for export to China and several South Asian countries, in some areas of Sumatra and Kalimantan it is used for ceremonial events such as concoction of betel nut for traditional ceremonies.
