Silhouetting the cat

The form of this painting takes shape as I go further filling up the empty spaces. My initial thought process for the work was to start with the cat which is meant as the prime attraction however I started with a bit different method and went to the work by creating a silhouette of the cat by orchestrating the outer areas with some coherent color shades.

This work was meant as a check and balance procedure for my upcoming work on canvass.
Please upvote and resteem the post if you like my work. I intend to bring the reproduction of this on a canvass.

Awesome painting! I like to start with the background when I paint as well, although I'm not always great at remembering to do so. Then it's a pain to try to fill in the back if I forget!

I look forward to seeing your final piece!

Yes, filling the voids before the main focus of the paintings can create an atmosphere which was not intended for. I am still under experiment with this and hope to bring the final work here.

Cool! This is all by hand, no computer generated or photoshopped illustration? Lovely, and lively!

Thank you for linking my art. Yes, I worked on this purely with acrylics. This work is incomplete as it is on a paper and was intended only for testing some techniques. I will soon post my work on a canvass.

it's great! If you were to add the hashtag #isleofwrite, I'd be allowed to feature this post in the weekly Island Highlights. I happen to be on a mission of my own to draw a simple outline, pen on paper, of our own cat, Matisse -like, and I'm actually beginning to make some progress, finally. But capturing the shape of someone or something with a line drawing is much harder than one might think. You have a gift. :)

Thank you for replying! I will surely do it.

I wrote a post, partly just to make sure your endearing cat is included in my own weekly roundup: https://steemit.com/fiction/@carolkean/what-s-good-to-read-keangaroo-s-weekly-roundup-21-feb-2018
You deserve more upvotes and follows!

That is very generous of you. It motivates me a lot.

I was awestruck by the haunting realization of the cat by sensing the surrounding!
