A mystery, solved.
I had a large, heavy-duty archery target in the backyard. This morning, I noticed it wasn't there. Nobody admits to moving it. Could it possibly have been stolen? (Seriously, coming at night down a tree-covered rural country lane, sneaking into a backyard, and stealing just an archery target? C'mon.....)
We recalled hearing some loud crashing noises of small branches breaking in the woods last night. It went on for 10 or 15 minutes. We assumed it was a bear bedding down for the night or something.
Wait, you don't suppose...
Yeah. The bear dragged the Worlds Largest Chew Toy over a hundred feet, into a small clearing in the woods, and then did what bears do with toys.
Silly bears! So far this summer I've seen the tail end of one scooting off into the trees, much better than the paw prints I found inside my house last year...
