📢New Era - Cars (Mercedes-Benz S 400 4Matic L AMG Line Plus)

The Mercedes-Benz S can't  be taken as the third version of the small A on the test. This is the car that represents the heart of the brand, and the car that all competition puts as an example. Good news? He is still the best among the best, although the others are getting closer to him.

Although I don't like the black cars so much, I don't see it in another color. And it's easy to say why. So much elegance exudes a few cars, but now it is a bit more striking with minor repairs and especially more prominent lights with triple uprights. All brands are now working on some sports packages also in prestigious limousines, and again it seems that Mercedes-Benz is the smartest way to pack it. In spite of the AMG line, it's still pretty snug so it does not work pathetic with some intrusive sports accessories.

The most difficult thing to do is to do this. Where should I sit? Front or back? Do I imagine that I really have so much work that I do not have time to drive, but I don't even look for car parks and similar nonsense that we ordinary people do every day. But why would the Germans do so much and make one of the best cars in the world?

It's really a pleasure to drive. Otherwise, these are other varieties of pleasures; not the one you can hardly wait for the next bend on the road, but simply relaxing behind the wheel, no matter if it's a short or long road. The new S is capable of the most autonomous driving among all cars and as such is considered a test bunny, because the technology will then get into other smaller Mercedes cars. So, he himself can adjust the speed, which is nothing new, if he doesn't stop himself from the roundabouts and bends. The data is in the navigation and reads the characters, but in practice they are surprised by the efficiency, although I admit that such a drive still mostly works impatient, because I wait for it all the time, where it will make a mistake, or what I would do better. S is cut off perfectly if the turns are moderate and traffic is normal; for example, I did not stop or accelerate on the way from Black Canyon to Bernardin, only the steering wheel needs to be touched constantly by the electronics knowing that you have not fallen asleep. Sometimes sensors are even too sensitive to some lines, but for safety reasons, it's better to be too much than too small.

There is no need to lose a lot of words about the interior. As you can see yourself on the shots, the design is very pleasant, the materials are selected, soft, quality in touch, a little thin plastic, color combinations are thought out and the steering wheel is fantastic. Both to look and hold. You can sit down superbly and if there is someone with a little narrower shoulder, fear that he will swim on wide armchairs in front, there is no panic. In the bends, the side support is inflated, and the small body is held in the right place in the seat. It also inspires a massage, even the one with warming up the seat is very pleasant in the cold winter days. The digital meters have convinced me the least. Not in terms of usability, because they are sufficiently transparent and you can also choose your theme if you do not like the default, but somehow, for my taste, you can not get such a nice and elegant dashboard with a real analogue clock. When you watch the right needle when climbing, showing how speed is growing, this is a special feeling that a computer animation can not conjure, although it must be taken into account that S is technologically ambiguous, so the innovations are in place. A little less is the center meter, which is slightly lined right when viewed from the driver's seat through the steering wheel. I know, stupid little things, but they just create such a good car that S really is.

Just because of my official duty, I sat down in the back and ... well, there is nothing to write down what you wouldn't expect. There is plenty of space in the extended version, the seat is extremely comfortable and perfectly adjustable, even an isofix is hidden, which is well covered with a special pad when you are not using it. Nevertheless, I thought that if i really had a lot of money, I would probably hire a driver just to drive it around and plead with me when I could not comfort myself.

S does not hide its size. Neither the masses. It is nice to hear, for how big a car goes, which does not mean it can not be fast. But the servo is a little too soft for a really good feeling and the body is quite tilted if you exaggerate in curves, but the character of the car changes significantly when you move to the sport + program. But if it were otherwise, I would not be satisfied. The comfort in comfort mode works so nicely that it seems to me better than anything else. The 4Matic four-wheel drive models do not even have the Magic Body Control system, which is even better with the help of road cameras.

Another pearl is the engine. Hold on, now the six-cylinder is in the row! They developed a brand new engine to keep it even quieter and even more calm and ... of course, they succeeded. I'm rarely amazed with changes, but it's me, it has three liters and 250 kW, which is 340 'horses', and even 700 Nm of torque from 1200 rpm. You will hear it only when it starts and accelerates, otherwise it's great quiet and powerful, and the acceleration of this S is only 5.2 seconds to 100. They are perfectly complemented by a 9-speed automatic transmission, which has both long gear ratios in higher gear, that I always looked at twice if the engine really works with only 1,400 rpm. And if I had to recommend a combination, but I did not even have the other cars, and i think it would probably be the S 400 d my right choice. You will also be impressed by the very moderate consumption (on the test just 8.6 liters per 100 km) and the large range with a full tank, although this cost is negligible at the price of the car.

Knowers will not be surprised. The test vehicle costs over 170,000 euros, because it has only 55,000 euros for additional equipment, but whoever has the money, will put it in. They  know why. A real star on the nose deserves a synonym for perfection, S also deserves #1   class of large limousines with the latest generation.

Overal the car is very good, but affordable only to those who have lots of money.
