The profession of artists is still underestimated by some people. There are still many parents who do not allow their children to become artists. This was originally experienced by Karina Deagusta. Women who wrestle the art of this mural fight against the negative stigma that is always attached to the mural artist.
"Parents prefer me to buy clothes rather than buy paint," said Kare, Karina's close call.
But that did not undermine the spirit of the murals. Kare even more diligent to hone his creativity to foreign countries. It is also experienced by Fatia Flowers. Graduate student of Multimedia Nusantara University majoring in Graphic Design is also pursuing his ideals in the field of art mural to foreign countries.
He admitted that although his decision was supported by parents who also work as an artist, he still heard the negative stigma of people around him. In general, the world of murals is known as the world of men.
When I first joined the exhibition, I was the only girl interested in the same mural and street art. I think men prefer mural because there is adrenaline, there are factors on the roadside, and not many parents who allow their daughter to play by the roadside, "he said.
Flowers continue to pursue his ideals to form a community Ladies On Wall that houses many street artist women.
"At that time, 2014, there are 9 people now 30 more and have become communities, people see the community is unique, then can support and buy our work So through this community also its members can earn income We have an annual event as well," .
Flowers and Kare are brought together in the Ladies On Wall community. Finally they decided to keep the spirit of making a mural. Through this community, they can draw more direction because there is training.
Each artist has their own distinctive features and styles. Flowers for example, he always uses a headset when drawing a mural to focus on drawing. To characterize the murals, Flowers have cirri eye pictures.
"So there must be an eye element in the picture Lately I like the eye and facial image I am usually a picture of vent, so if I am sad, the picture is automatically sad, the color so sad too, I do not know why but feeling I go in picture me, "he said.
While Kare is more famous with a lettering-style mural. This style is more seldom selected female mural artist as her trademark.
