As part of its annual reports, comScore revealed the results of a recent survey with smart phone users aged 18 and over to monitor the applications they need on their home screens.
These applications have varied between image, map and other applications. Here are the top 10 applications that must now be on the Home screen.

24% of people have an instagram application on the home screen.

32% of people have Google search on their main screen.

34% of people have a Facebook Messenger app on the main screen.
- Amazon
35% of people have Amazon app on the main screen.
- Google Maps
37% of people have Google Maps on their main screen.
- Gmail
41% of people have a Gmail on-screen home.
46% of people have a Facebook app on the home screen.

The problem with some of these applications such as Instagram, is that it's what many call bloatware - they ship with the phone, and can't be uninstalled. Just the fact that they come pre-installed lead to many more users than if it weren't pre-installed.
So it's not necessary the best products that wins, but the marketing.
But again, isn't that how everything else goes too.
