Kamalapur Railway Station,Dhaka

Today, I will try to share with you some information about the largest railway station in Bangladesh. Kamalapur Railway Station is the biggest and busiest station in the country. It is generally located in the Motijheel & Paltan area of Dhaka. Almost all major trains in Bangladesh operate through this station. Every day, thousands of passengers travel to their destinations from here.

	Architectural design

Anyone who sees the architectural design of the upper roof of Kamalapur Railway Station becomes amazed. The roof looks beautifully curved, almost like ocean waves. Among all the railway stations I have seen in our country, the architectural style of Kamalapur Railway Station has impressed me the most.

	Bookshop

As soon as you enter the station, you can see the main entry gate. Everyone stands in line and enters through this gate. On the left side, there is the ticket counter. Those who cannot purchase tickets online buy their tickets directly from here. On the left side, there are also several bookshops where anyone can buy books and spend their waiting time reading.

	First food shop

On the right side of the gate, there are several food courts. The food shop you see here is called Three S First Food. In this shop, you will find almost all kinds of food items. They offer various chocolates, biscuits, dry foods, ice cream, mineral water, cold drinks, and more.

Once you go further inside, you will be mesmerized by the beautiful architectural design. It looks absolutely stunning. This unique design was created about 65 years ago, around the 1960s.

	Washroom

If any passenger wishes to use the washroom upon entering, there is a proper arrangement for that as well. With only 10 taka, anyone can access the washrooms, and there are separate sections for men and women. The washrooms are very neat and clean. There is also a safe drinking water facility—if someone feels very thirsty, they can easily get safe water from here. Anyone can wash their face and freshen up as well.

	Help desk

Right in front, the first thing you will see is the help desk. If any passenger faces delays or needs information, they can come directly to this help desk for assistance. There are several staff members here who help passengers by providing necessary information.

	Displayed scheduled of time

Walking a little further ahead, you will see a large display screen where the schedule of every train is shown. This is very helpful for passengers. You can check the departure times and see which train is leaving for which destination. As you can see from the picture, a huge number of people gather in this area.

This station has a total of eight platforms. Passengers have to check the schedule to know from which platform their train will depart and wait there accordingly. There are plenty of seating arrangements, and if you look up, you will see that there are fans installed for the passengers’ comfort.
