KAHAYAG FESTIVAL FROM MUNICIPALITY OF CARMEN DAVAO DEL NORTE
Hello steemers!
I had a few days break from my trading activity and my girlfriend wanted to have a break from her stressful work so we did some hang out and it's a perfect time to visit the opening of KAHAYAG FESTIVAL at Carmen, Davao del Norte.
It was just about 10-15 minutes travel from our hometown and luckily it was Friday and no work for tomorrow so we pay ourselves with a good views of Christmas lights and Christmas trees. "KAHAYAG" is a Cebuano/Bisaya term for illuminate, bright lights or simply bright it depends on how it is being used as Filipino dialects depends the meaning of the words based on how it is being used. The Kahayag Festival was held every December in preparation of the municipality for Christmas holiday and more so, to attract visitors and I can say it is a good tourism strategy. The festival is a showcase of different Christmas trees made with recyclable materials of different baranggay with one (1) entry per baranggay. The people of the community work hand in hand to bring out the best out of the best from scrap metals to scrap papers and other junk items and turn them into a beautiful work of art.
The municipality awards though the best Christmas tree as a sort of appreciation for the participation of the natives and local dwellers of Carmen. But above the prizes they offer is the sweet relaxing aura of the lights that makes you feel like you are in a spa having a very good massage!
It is a total stress free hang out with my girlfriend and she loves taking pictures all the way from the very first Christmas tree up to the very last.
I do have lots of photos but it's too much to put and upload here on steemit. But in case you wanted to visit this KAHAYAG FESTIVAL you are most welcome at any time! Come and Visit KAHAYAG FESTIVAL @ CARMEN, DAVAO DEL NORTE!
I have heard of this festival but Ive never been to Carmen. My grandparents are in Panabo and they tell me it' is quite far (farthest I've gone to is Tagum). Good job on the photos! I'm glad you shared them here. Happy holidays to you and your girlfriend!
It's not that far po from Panabo City... Just about 10-15 minutes travel by tricycle or about 5-10 minutes if bus or van... Panabo next is Carmen then next is Tagum if you are traveling from Davao...
Whuuuut! 😰 I must have misunderstood my relatives in Panabo. Or maybe my memory is already faulty. Lol. Anyhoo, I hope to meet you when I visit my grandparents in Panabo. Uli mig April. Unta makasaliat. 😀
