Empty roads and full cages.
Is there anyone out there?
It's crazy, we all live in an unprecedented collective hallucination in our beautiful globalized world.
Closed, stuck in houses by an invisible phenomenon that was born out of nowhere .... maybe.
We are knowing the limitations of individual freedoms, of displacements, we are forced to do it, out of conscience, out of law or out of fear.
Leaving the house, a very simple action that we do every day, without even thinking about what or how to do it, mechanically or naturally. Now and in the near future people will dream of being able to move freely and everything will no longer be the same. To take the car you need documents, endorsed self-certifications, and while I am writing a new decree it also forbids us to go for a run alone.

Normality of behavior has become a chimera, a danger to the health of the community and for the first time in history we are all inside, in a globalized cage.
The principle of affectivity has failed, suddenly the moods, feelings and emotions that we could express to others have been suddenly eliminated.
The decay of the globalized system has begun, nothing will be the same as before, we review all the values of our so-called humanity, thinking of them in the armchair at home or on a chair alone, or for the lucky ones with a loved one.
Limitations of individual freedom that make us think, have already implemented the technologies to control us even better, they know if we move and where we go without more privacy.
In my humble opinion, the most serious aspect of government measures is the total blocking of socialization between people, forbidding us to be able to be with others and to share communicating, looking you in the face, live.
The discomfort we feel is greatest because two weeks have passed and we do not see an exit.
The other countries are starting now and I assure you that it is very difficult to observe the rules.

We have closed our human qualities, we have closed ourselves in aseptic mental cages.
Like many animals we have imprisoned for centuries.
Many parks and zoos have left animals in a state of semi-freedom, it is paradoxical that animals can recover a part of freedom that we have denied them.
I imagine a deserted city, as all cities are deserted right now, Rome, Paris, London, Madrid, New York, empty, erased by every soul, uprooted by people's daily actions.
Deserted cities where animals can take back their spaces, run freely without fear of meeting a human being.
Are the animals returning free?
Maybe, perhaps not completely free, but listen to them too, as we will listen to the beats of the Earth.
Horses run in the empty city, gallop the symbols of our desire for freedom, only now do we begin to quantify the value of our freedom.
How much will it cost?
I have no idea, but I can only speculate that it will be a value that we will be able to attribute much better than before.
Armando.
[Hive forever]
I threw some color on the paper.
Strade vuote e gabbie piene.
Armando.

My dear friend,
your posts are very dark these days and I understand that things are especially dire in Italy. Perhaps you have lost a loved one or a friend? If so, my deepest condolences!
But I'm here to tell you, after the rain there will be sunshine again, as sure as God made little apples! Believe it, life will go on, and it will be all the sweeter after the crisis passes.
I'm not afraid of cages or freedom lost. Freedom is a funny thing: Once they have tasted it, people want it back whatever the cost. In the long run the forces arrayed against it must always lose because it is the natural way of the world - and nature always, ALWAYS WINS!
So shed your sorrows and try to find joy again, in art, in colors, in little things. This is my wish for you. This, too, will pass!

I don't know why these dark paintings come out to me but I have little time and I don't want to draw with a pencil.
I risk every morning, I go out and close myself in the study. I spent three days in the afternoon in videoconference with my students and in the evening I reflect on this tragedy. But this is absurd, yesterday in Bergamo 459 people died, many bodies are not withdrawn by relatives who are afraid of contagion.
A nurse friend who had contracted the virus died 3 weeks ago, a city of 15,000 inhabitants 10 km away from me has been closed in quarantine, the dead are taking them away by military means of the army. Today they announced that Italy will be in quarantine for another month.
I have my mother 300 km from me and the village where she lives yesterday has been armored.
You are a dear friend and I really embrace you and Caro, a hug with your elbows.
Don't underestimate the danger and take care of yourself.
this is Bergamo yesterday.
I'm so sorry to hear your friend died. As a nurse she died a hero.
It is sad your mom is so far away, but as long as she is safe we must be thankful for that. Perhaps you can get her to use a video app like Google Duo, or have a family member over there who can assist her with it? I mention that because I myself routinely forget to make use of this great invention. Video is not just for students.
My mom lives in the house with us and to keep her at a safe distance presents a special set of problems in its own right.
Yes, I'm following the news, and Italy is in them every day I'm sorry to say. Germans are not taking this seriously enough; just yesterday the city was full of people as the weather was fine. When they cue at the markets or the bank they push close with zero concern. I just cough a little, that makes them jump faster than a kick in the ass. So there's that at least. Piccole cose, eh?
Anyway, the two of us are taking care, never fear.
Elbow!
