Poker Tip Man Armen-"Enticing a Bluff"
Enticing a bluff: To get your opponent to bluff.
One tactic that I like to use to take a big pot down is by enticing a player to bluff. This skill that I adapted is a weapon that I put to use all the time. It's like trapping a mouse.
I'm going to show you how to increase your winnings with this simple trick. For example, let's say you have KQ of diamonds in early position. You 2 bet, 3X preflop and you go to the flop with two players in late position. The flop is Ks, 2s and 7h. You bet out 75% of the pot. You get one caller. The turn is Queen of clubs. You bet out again and you get a call. Most likely you're up against a flush draw. The river is King of hearts. What do you do? In this case, I'm holding pretty much all the cards on the board, so most likely my opponent was on a flush draw and missed it. If I bet out I won't get any action. In this case I will check and entice my opponent to bluff. You set a trap and hope your opponent takes the bait. In most cases the flush draw will see a window of opportunity and they will jump into your trap. Normally they will bet out a large amount representing trip kings. I would recommend a min-raise to try to get them to go all-in, but most likely they will fold and you take down a bigger pot.
Betting is a big part of the game, making the right check or bet can get your opponents out of their realm and make bad plays to your advantage.
